Starting chelation next week

Back to Autism Information >> Next Topic

Hey everyone!

We resolved the majority of dd's yeast and bacteria problems with a month of treatment.  We are now starting chelation.  She has moderate lead, mercury and aluminum levels.  Just a quick question for those who have been through this..

1. How did you see any positive changes in your child, if any?

2. How long did you chelate for?

3.  If you saw changes, what were the most significant?

Thanks so much!!

What kind of chelation are you going to be doing?Hey Julie,
We are going to start a rotation of DMSA, DMPS and EDTA suppositories.  I was hoping to find out who has seen improvements, and how soon?  Hope you can help!

Hi, we have tried DMSA suppositories for about a year and have been unable to get far with them.  We do see slight improvements, but my son gets sick almost immediately after we start using them as he seems to have an intolerance to sulfur (took us this long to figure out it was the sulfur in the chelating agent he was reacting to vs. immune problems or just coincidentally getting sick every time we started) so we have never been able to chelate for periods longer than a month and then we have had to stop for months at a time.  We have done rounds of ALA following the Cutler protocol and seen improvements and we just did our first IV of EDTA, Glutathione, NAC and Vitamin C and saw really Wow results immediately (like within hours)!  We are going to continue IV chelation although how often I'm not sure.

Having an intolerance to sulfur rules out the DMSA or DMPS either suppositories or orally, so we are kind of stuck with the IV which is fine as our first one went like a dream and we were VERY pleased with the entire process.

I have heard that Z-natural or Zeolite is very good.  Its supposedly tastelss and you add it to your childs beverage.  Our OT had two sons who had high levels of metals.  They tried different products ofr 3 years.  She claims that after 3 months of this product the highh metals have been removed. Both my kids have made progress using the DMSA supps.  They were moderately toxic.  I saw improvement w/in a month.  We chelated for a year, took a break for several months and are now starting up again. We will be starting EDTA supps tomorrow. Our doc only prescribed 1 every 14 days to start. They are also only 175 mg. Does that sound low??

that sounds very low, and not dosed often enough.

Did he say why?

When we did EDTA supps, they were 375 mg and given twice a week. My girl is 53 pounds.

Dylan is only 31lbs but still it seems quite low to me. When I asked if that was low, he said no, he wants to see how he tolerates them. So I guess he is just be cautious.

Did you get gains using them??

It is hard to say. We just started in Nov, and all that time she was also dealing with high oxalates, bacteria and yeast and eating foods she was intolerant to.

Right now trying to get the yeast down, but bacteria is gone and oxalates are low and peanuts and soy removed \o/ so I hope to see many gains.

I kept on plugging on through all that, wiht the chelation. This is the longest we have been able to do it! My girl has huge dysbiosis.

I hope you start noticing some good gains soon. I double checked our EDTA and it is only 125mg - so very low. :( I guess we will do these and see what happens.

I'm glad you got the bacteria down, we are still fighting that.

chelation
article

Pingu, that article and what it alleges is interesting because both of my children just did chelation challenges and had their urine tested through Doctors Data, and NEITHER ONE of them had highly elevated mercury levels.

I wonder why you are so h*ll bent on disproving biomedical treatment as an viable option for treatment for autistic children?

Hi Julie

After reading that article I thought your answer was quite restrained
because I thought the article was a sad piece of crap

yeah like the autistic son who beat his mother to death recently.

So we have been on the chelation protocol for 3 weeks, and I hope it isn't a fluke..BUT this week we have had huge breakthroughs as far as language is concerned!!  She is trying to repeat about everything we request her to, as well as tons of spontaneous words and phrases!!  Her articulation has also started to improve!  Hoping this is only the beginning!!!!

Just be careful with zeolite. zeoactiv8 zeolite is causing kids to go backwards because it still has  lots of lead, arsenic & copper in it. I do not know about the one you are using but you must request that they show you an independant heavy mineral analysis on your product and best yet on your batch number. There is an industry basic standard test which test for 8 of the major heavy metals. All manufactures should supply this. zeoactiv8  zeolite is dangerous.

Methinks it's not a fluke

So happy for you and glad she is tolerating!

That is great!! We just ordered Detoxamin EDTA suppositories so we can start giving 2 a week at 375mg, plus they are much, much cheaper than Lee Silsby was. ($50 for 2)

How are you dosing the DMSA? What brand?

We are doing EDTA ix week (150mg), then alternating between DMPS and DMSA every weekend (3days).  She's been doing it for 2 months, and seems to still be talking and jabbering/understanding a lot more!  Hopefully more to come in the future!  Good luck with your son!
