Public schools in southern california

Hello,

Does anyone have any suggestions for a good school district in Southern California for autistic children? My hfa son is 6 and has been going to the same public school in AZ for two years, however we will be relocating to California and I'm trying to find a good district for him. Unfortunately, his current school doesn't have any real qualified people that have experience with Autism. Hard to believe but true. They have given him an IEP with a few special ed classes, but no aide, para nothing. The district is pretty weak. I'm praying that in California we will have better resources than here in AZ.. Any and all advice appreciated!!

I recently went to conference on the current autism research in Irvine.  One of the speakers said that Manhatten Beach was a great SD for Autism and DD as they have had enough law suits to effect change within their district.  The speaker said that they had a top-notch education specialist who is addressing the issues our kids face.  I understand that Irvine SD has great schools, but they are also very experienced in dealing with the parents of Autistic kids and are very difficult to obtain services with.  In my home district children may have whatever dx. but they still need to meet criteria to recieve any extras.
