| Floortime Therapy
the Greenspan books are in the library if you wanted to check it out closer.
We, too, use this therapy, and have been very pleased with it. I am from Pa and cant find anyone in my area that does Floortime therapy. The tss works on playskills with my daughter and she picks up on these skills and really enjoys herself. I wonder if anyone has a link to floortime or areas that Floortime is available?i think this would hsave help me alot when i was younger if they had it We did floortime for years. IMHO, this is the easiest "do it yourself" therapy. There are 2 great books by Stanley Greenspan: The Child with Special Needs and Engaging Autism.
When my son started therapy we went to a place that did floortime. However once we got the books our life pretty much became floortime all the time. It just became the natural way we interacted with our son. Floortime at home, in the car, in the grocery store. Once you start doing it and get comfortable with it, you kind of stop thinking of it as therapy and it just becomes so natural, at least for me.
I hope someone answer your question about finding someone in PA, but in the meantime buy the books and just dive right in. Here is a link that you may find very helpful:

My mom did it all the time with me when I was younger. She actually only
took me to a doctor/therapist a couple of times and then she did it at home
with a trampoline and some other equipment and followed what she read in
books and what the doctor said. It really helped a lot. I highly recommend it. From the ICDL

website here are all the professionals in PA
In Western PA our TSS did Floortime with our son. We use Watson Institute for wraparound but all of them do Floortime, Wesley Spectrum, Western Psych, FBR,etc. Ask your BSC to work with the TSS to integrate Floortime into the scheduled activities. We do Floortime and it has done a lot for my girls. I wasn't able to find a facility close enough so I read both the above mentioned books by Greenspan and perused the internet. I also joined the two Floortime Yahoo Groups (Floortime is one and the other is Floortimers) and posted for help with finding a Floortime therapist locally. I had three seperate local therapist contact me offering to come to my home and do an eval and set up a home program. I did that and learned a great deal. The therapist can monitor us by visits/videos so no facility is needed. Good luck!Great resources and advice here, thank you for all your responses!I pretty much agree with all that's been said here...a lot of my
daughter's teachers and therapists have used floortime in their
approach, especially when she was younger, and i think the books are a
good way to begin. Also, later if you are dealing with a school system
you can advocate for those who are working with your child to be
trained in that approach. That's what I've done with my daughter,
however, I should say that in her case she didn't really progress that
much without the help of ABA and dietary interventions.
Good luck!
