random drug screeningI just got the phone call from our random drug office. I am currently consuming my body weight in decaf coffee because I have to go tinkle in a cup. LOL The best part is that this is the first time I've been called for it that I haven't been pregnant. I always said, "random my a--, they are calling me down because everyone's complaining that I must be on drugs since I'm crazy with hormones". Does anyone else have a job that requires random drug screening? I do, and they can get me for 2 reasons.1] I can directly control the position, direction and speed of train movements, along with taking care of public road crossings. 2] I hold a CDL A drivers license. BUT why have every Random test come the day following a Steeler game with an 8:00 P.M. kick off? Random my ass. Hey Lucky thank goodness they don't check for Miller Lite consumption the day after the game. We don't believe that random crap either. I know at least 5 people who have been called down and then called back 3 days later. So, it's just a coincidence that it's always 3 days?!?! I don't really care because I don't do drugs so they can call me once a week if they want. I just wish they would be honest about it. "Hey we're calling you back 3 days later because we thought you would think it was safe to smoke a big huge joint since we tested you 3 days ago." DH gets called in ... at one point it was like every 2 months! He refuses to eat so much as a poppy seed bagel or danish! Very paranoid about it but enjoys getting watch CABLE TV at the test-site, LOL. It is WAAAAAY in another part of town from the majority of their employees (municipal gvt), so it wastes one HELLUVA lot of work time. IF they were going to CONSTRUCTIVELY make budget cuts, they could do something with THAT. ] it is a breathalyzer to screen for alcohol content in excess of .o2 %. This is the maximum allowable BAC for my job. Some tooth pastes set this thing off. One of my friends got caught up in one of these after golf night and he bought his own breathalzyer. If he has any doubts, he just calls in sick.
The RR contracts all of this out to a screening company and the tester is a retired PA State Trooper. He is a nice guy with a job to do and he respects us as well. We can do this thing called Red Block if we are called out and can't pass the tests, but that is a huge pain in the rear end. So most of us just screen our calls and do not answer if we can't play nice. Hey MJ, Too bad they can't screen for wife murders on the CPD, is that guy a known person to you? I know that everyone is innocent until proven guilty.I do! I don't know actually if they do it random or yearly, but I know they can pull us any time they want. I work for a federally funded, federally qualified, JCAHO accredited health agency as the Assitant Clinical Coordinator (I run the office as well as seeing clients). Given that I randomly Utox my clients, since I deal with a lot of substance abuse here as well as mental illness, it's only fair that I get hit too! [Professional editing courtesy of Luckyman Lucky - I am totally lost Oh - good old Drew. What a freak, huh? And, how oh how did he get some other young girl to go with him? I thought something big broke on the news last night and I missed it since I couldn't keep my eyes open for the 10 o'clock news. i read smthng that said..his gf breaks silence to say that drew was"nice"...not sure if that's what news u were talking bout.lol Ya, I get randomly tested where I work because I drive heavy equipment and stuff like that.Ya, I used to party alot in high school and in collage, but those days are over, I got a good job and never had a problem passing whenever they call which is frequently. I always heard rumors of pompy seeds and stuff making errors on the tests, but I always thought it was just a lame excuse, guess their is truth to that! Nope, and I work as a nurse, and have fairly easy access to all sorts of good drugs. I know of several nurses over the years that I've worked with who falsified narcotic administration records and patient records, and took the meds themselves. Course, they eventually get caught, and lose their license to practice, and subsequently their job. I'm way too paranoid and afraid of losing my nursing license, that I won't even drive if I've had one drink. I once read an article that said ,Instead of testing all those people who get up for work every day ,contribute to there community and pay there taxes, they should require the folks who pick up there welfare checks,to test before receiving there Money. Not my opinion!!!!!,Just read it somewhere. There are alot of very deserving people out there ,who need and deserve to be helped. Sucks tho since the drug tests I take at work cost $50+ every time! For people at work I understand tho, I drive heavy equipment everyday and need to be sober, but I like you saying this also. I know several people who are on disability who seem just fine too me, and they smoke more dope then cheech and chong. Thats where some of your hard earned $$$ go too. FOr those who are not faking, its terrible for them, cause they have the hardest time getting the assistance they should be entitled too. Seems those who fake it get it as easy as 123, then do other stuff on the side like work or sell bags of grass. I know stuff goes on in my neghboorhood and if I was that kinda person I would turn um all in, but I dont, deep down in side tho I hope they all get caught. We all work too hard for our $$$, too many people abuse it, thats part the reason their isnt enough $$$ for ASD reasearch and assistance for familes!! You can thank the dead beat you know personally!

If those who go to work have to take a drug test for the money they work for - then why shouldn't those who get the money the other people work for have to show that they aren't sitting around smokin' a fat one while JoeBlow is at work busting his hump. It's not degrading, discriminatory, or anything else. It's just common sense. Law abiding citizens who need some help every now and then should have no problem with it, since they have nothing to hide and probably had to take drug tests themselves when they were able to work. DH's job does random (I think), and it's automatically done if there is an injury of any kind. |
