School stuffWOw that awesome! The device sounds really cool! Im happy to hear of the new reading program, I wish him luck, im sure hel progress a ton on it and def keep us updated too Loki, great news on the Lindamood bell program...this program along with others like Barton really do work...it is nice they are doing it throught the schools because typically Lindamood bell is a budget breaker. His new writing device sounds cool. Let us know how it works for him. Woohoo for all of the new stuff to assist him!I think that his progress on goals is pretty typical, many students have goals as only 'emerging' until further into the school year. Wait until he's had his new services/devices for a few weeks, and then talk to the teacher to see how he's progressing. If she's concerned about his progress, or you still are, you can ask to have a meeting to talk about what's going to be done these last few months of school to ensure that he continue to progress. I am so excited today, My son is getting a device that will help him at school with writing reports, essays, tests and other things. He speaks into it and it prints out what he says with correct spelling, legible print. It has to be programed to his voice so it might take a while to get it working correctly for him, but I am encouraged. He also will start into a new reading program on the 23rd of this month at school, for kids that have problems with decoding, and phonics. His Spec. Ed Teacher has just had training for older kids that can't read up to grade level ( Lindamood bell extension training) and she said, it might work well for him. Yesterday I got his progress report from Spec. Ed, it was not as good as I would have liked to see, He is still at emerging stage for most of his goals. especially hand writing, spacing, reading. It's like he is stuck and not progressing. Do some kids get to the point when they will not show growth in areas of disabilities? Is this as good as it will get? |
