No Dizzy responce

I was wondering how common it was for a ASD child to not have a dizzy responce? My DS has no dizzy responce. When we took him to the OTeval she commented on how he should have been dizzy from all the spinning and he wasnt.  Anyone else? Anyonw know what causes them not to have one???

Also we get our OT eval results today wish us luck. I personally didnt care for the OT.... We will see how it goes today.

Good Luck, hope you hear positive news. Don't know about the spinning thing, but my son was spinning last week and said to me "I didn't even get dizzy", I had said to him,  be careful  your are gonna get dizzy doing that. So I don't really know for sure he was not dizzy, he might of just said that because of what I said. He didn't fall over when he stopped though.  My son gets very dizzy when the OT spins him....This indicated that his vestibular system was off, she did a program called astronaut training.Ya, strangly enough that doesnt bother me much eather. At work part of my everyday job is to load freight into trucks, I have to plastic wrap the stuff so it dont fall, I can do that all day, going around the freight many times until it is all wrapped up, I am quite fast at it cause I dont get dizzy easy compaired to others who work slower becase of that reason.

Ummm, ya as a kid it didnt bother me much eather, cant recall why I would purposly try to induce dizzyness as a kid, it was their obviously just not as much as other kids.

What can I say I am super human? hehe.
I think it's very common in those with autism to not get dizzy when spinning, Zach never seems to get dizzy when he spins, and spins.
Ya, but I just wonder what the real reason is for it.

Their is a little tiny organ inside your ears that regulates balance, orintation, and the fluid inside that tiny organ is what causes one to feel dizzy or notice that they are leaning or upside down... whatever.

Its something I never thought about till now, when I was little I had a chair that for some odd reason I used to spin in it, $hit... I wonder what mom and dad had to have thought seeing that!

Even at work I can outpace anyone plastic wrapping because I dont get dizzy, just wonder why it is it seems like an advantage (job security!!!) but what are the biological reasons for it.

Anyone know anything about the vestibular system that wants to explain a bit? I am curious now!My son never gets dizzy either, though I can feel sick just watching him spin
in his swing. His OT did the astranaut training with him, and that seemed to
help some. I think lack of dizziness is pretty common in ASD kids.
Harriet  Our OT also told us it is very common for kids w/ Autism to not get dizzy. If you look at your sons eyes after you spin him, you will see that his eyes dont dart back and forth much, if at all, llike NT kids(or adults) do. It is a sign of a damaged neuroligical system. Our son had NO diziness 2 years ago before we started sensory therapy, now he gets dizzy some, and his eyes do the back and forth movement, so things are improving. Ask your Ot about it, our gave us a ton of information.

maybe there are hyperdizzy kids and hypodizzy kids..

my son would also feel sick to his stomach if the OT did too much astronaut training

Mine got dizzy on a tilt-a-whirl recently.

BUT ...  she did not feel Nausea!  She only got one real throw-up flu, when she was 5, but it was a nasty surprise, for three days. Over and over.

[QUOTE=2autistickids]i get dizzy if im sun around to much i all ways had montion sickness since baby an i have autism .i think it a indvilue thing

At one time, my son did not get dizzy either.  His balance was limited, he had to adjust himself before walking down the steps and he hated to be held upsidedown.  When getting his EI evaluation, the PT mentioned that not like being upsidedown was a pretty common symptom of spectrum kids. His pain tolerance was very high and his drooling was excessive.  All of these things are symtpoms of a problematic vestibular system.

Fast forward two years.  All of the above have improved 90-100 percent.  Drooling is almost nonexistant.  He loves to be upsidedown, comes to me for comfort when he gets hurt....and gets dizzy when playing ring around the rosy.

During the OT appt she was telling us how unsere he is about his body in relationship to everything else in the world.  He Loved the swing but while holding on his knuckles turned white from the amount that he was squeezing. She said that brads sensory issues are extrermly out of wack. He is so overly sensitive to touch and textures. But so under sensitive when it comes to pain dizziness and his mouth. She also told us that brad had advanced problem solving skills and that he has the easiest time with the more challanging task thread a bead on a string, opening different thing,  but struggles to do the simpest thing like push a button.

As I was reading through I realized that when my daughter gets sick she has No warning she just pukes, mostly it happens when she is in bed.
