I live near Montgomery, Alabama. I am a grandmother, age 55, who has an 10 yr. old precious granddaughter with mild MR and autism. It is a lonely life here as I do not know anyone else to relate too. We live in a rural area and weekends are especially hard because my child has no friends etc. It would be nice to speak with anyone who lives nearby. Great site!Welcome to the board I am not near you, just wanted to welcome you here. I have a almost 14 year old boy with aspergers, learning disabilities. My son is in the 7th grade and just found a friend who is aspergers too. This is his first friend, I can relate to you on how lonely it is when you are not near anyone and have a child with special needs. My son and I are very close, maybe to close, but that is what it is like for us, cause I have been his only friend for so long.
