Well we got a new DX. Bipolar-Nos. Which is what he was originally diagnosed with. His Dr. recommended applying for SSI benefits. I broke down in the office and said I'm not looking for a check, but w/ all the med changes, dr. appt's, I can't afford all this! I want the best for my son and our insurance doesn't cover everything and we end up paying alot. So I was so relieved when he said to absolutely apply. So I do have some relief. I asked if Isaiah still is on the spectrum and he said at this point he is showing alot of the autistic characteristics..he gave me info on aspberger's which I already know all about because Isaiah does show alot of those symtoms..So hopefully things will start to improve. He's on seraquil( totally spelled that wrong, lol)so we'll see how that helps..Thanks again for listening!!I hope you get SSI, and that the meds help! Thanks for the update Melissa! That would be great if you get it. Good luck! My son has a bipolar-NOS dx as well and we were recently refferred to apply for SSI too. Hang in there (((hugs)))) I hope the meds work well for Isaiah and keep us updated!i know how u feel. my pat has been diagnosed wit asbergers since he was 4 and hw's 9 now. i felt the way u did and i didn't want it 2 seem like i was asking for a handout but realistically i am supporting 3 kids on my own financially and swallowed my pride and applied. i'm telling you it helped sooo much i am so glad that sum1 suggested i apply, it really will help with him and also u bc u will have a little of the burden off your shoulders so you can concentrate on more important things..like ur little one!! good luck! |
