Every now and then our mostly nonverbal little guy will clearly say something out of the blue. For a while now, he's been aggressive, though it does seem to be getting better - pinching and scratching mostly. When he "attacks" we hold his hands and tell him "no pinching" or "no scratching". Yesterday, he walked up to our DD and lightly pinched her arm and told her "I pinched you." When your child is nonverbal, you cherish anything he says... Oh, and when I called DD, she handed him the phone and he listened to me go on and on with the "I love you's" before he handed the phone back to her and said "Nana".
Nana - I too have a mostly non-verbal child. I know how special it is when they actually make words, it's better than the most beautiful music you've ever heard and it plays in your mind for hours afterwards. I am very happy to hear Cooper is making words and I hope you hear lots more Nana's very soon. |
