This evening, Michael picked up a chapter book that he received from a teacher a few years ago, and started reading it on his own. It had 7 chapters, and was 71 pages long, and he read it from cover to cover. He had to ask me about twice every page what a word was, but he never got frustrated or gave up. He has never voluntarily picked up a book to read, and he reads at about a 2nd grade level, so this a major event for us! That's really great! Must have been an interesting book:) And the fact that he never gave up, even if he didn't understand everything-great. Wow. That is a huge goal of mine ... Good for Michael!Congratulations, this is awesome! I can't tell you how much I look forward
to something like that for my ds.Wow, that's excellent news! What a wonderful thing to have happen! You must be very proud of him. Here's to more happy reading as he progresses! Harriet |
