Hello everyone, My daughter is 10 years old. When she was 2 years old , she started showing symptoms of Autism . We had plenty of investigations & lab tests made for her & they all came back negative. few months earlier , we made a test for heavy metals in which samples of her blood & hair were taken & the test revealed that she has excess zinc in her body (more than 700) which as I have been told is too high .
My question is does anyone know where can I find a chelating drug that can eliminate this excess zinc ??
thanks in advance
Which tests showed the excess zinc.... the hair test or the blood test? It sounds like you had a hair test that was read wrong.... she was probably excreting too much zinc, which means she had excess COPPER. Reading hair tests is very tricky. There are many docs and labs out there who run them, but have no idea how to read them properly. What shows in the hair is not indicative of what is currently in your child, but what your child has excreted. For instance, if your child was putting out that much zinc it means she had too much of something else that was forcing it out. Copper and zinc hold a delicate balance in the body and typically when one is too high, the other is too low. Many parents have hair tests done on their child and the lab/Dr. reports to them that their childs hair sample showed NO excretions of heavy metals so therefore their child does not have heavy metal toxicity. In reality, a normal child with a methylation system that is working properly and excreting heavy metals the way it is supposed to will show small amounts of heavy metals in their hair (and larger amounts if they have had a large exposure to something). This is good when this shows up as it means the persons body is doing it's job to get rid of toxins. It's when the hair shows up with NOTHING, as far as heavy metals that you know that person is indeed heavy metal toxic as their body is not excreting any of the heavy metals they are taking in, and we all take them in every day. So, in that person it is just building up and then settling into tissues and organs. I'm curious as to which test showed the high levels of zinc.... if it was a hair test that means your daughter actually had high levels of copper that forced her body to dump zinc.... indicating copper toxicity. Dear JulieA
Actually yes, you are right ....the test is of hair and showed result as of 735 mcg/g , while the range is mentioned to be 50 - 300 mcg/g. The copper test in urine as for Copper 24 hr sample showed the result 2 umol/24 h, the normal range is to be less than 0.8 , as well in hair test we found 6.8 mcg/g while the normal expected t come less than 5 mcg/g... Thus, is it still same picture now ? and what to do !! Thanks again for your help....
Hi, I guess one correction is needed here in my previous last line as follows:as well in hair test FOR LEAD we found 6.8 mcg/g while the normal expected t come less than 5 mcg/g...
Any other ideas friends!!!? To reduce levels of copper, you increase levels of zinc. You would want to do this very slowly by starting off at a very low dose for a week, and working up a little at a time. My son had higher levels of copper that I was unaware of. When I first started him on zinc he had quite a reaction.... the next day I lowered the dosage and kept him there for a week or so, then upped it a little at a time until he was at the recommended dosage for him. In the beginning he couldn't even handle the prescribed dosage. As far as the lead and everything together, I really think you should try to see a DAN doc or someone knowledgeable in chelating, reading tests and the proper ways to test for heavy metal toxicity. I see you live in Jordan so there are probably not alot of DAN docs there, but I know alot of parents travel from the Middle East to our doc here in Florida once a year and do the rest of their appts over the phone. That my be an option you might want to consider. i am not expert ora nything but i had high copper too it showed up clearly in the hair test / i supplimented with molybenum and zinc and also gave milk thistle, taurine, phosphatidal choline ( lecithin ) to increase bile flow mercury toxic people can have impaired mineral transport, im not sure if high zinc in a hair test means anything if mineral transport is impaired i would guess if zinc is high then copper would be low but i can check my references if you want Thamks dear. Dear JulieA, Please can you give me how to contact the DAN Docs ? Dear Dosphie, It is really appreciated if you could check your references for me ! :)
here is a great Doctor: www.creationsown.com
here is a great Doctor: www.creationsown.com
I'll second that. Dr. Rossignol at Creations Own is our DAN too. He treats Adam, my oldest son, and me too. We love him! Rena, both times we have been there in person we have seen families who have traveled from the middle east for treatment for their yearly appointments. We see Dr.Rao Plano tx.Just something on the side to add. Calcium competes with zinc for absorption by the body. Might consider adding a calcium supplement too. Plus, if he is not consuming enough calcium, his body is tapping into his bone reserves to pull out the needed calcium. If he toxic in lead (which many people are), one of the primary places lead is stored is in the bone because it has a natrual attraction for Calcium. So increasing calcium can also reduce the amount of lead being released by the bones. Just a thought.
The EPA and OSHA website has information about lead toxicity and how it affects the body. |
