ABA update

Back to Autism Information >> Next Topic

As you may be aware, we started in-home ABA 20 to 25 hours a week when DS turned 2.  By Christmas we will have been at it for 6 months.

I asked our BCBA last week:  based on your 10 years spent working with these kids, how would you rate my son's progress?

He said he was concerned about receptive labels but that in all his years of ABA he has never had a kid so good with the social skills.  His example was the fact that my son knows to lead his older sister to request candy, to tugg on DH's hand for going outside, to walk backwards into his uncles to request being swung...basically, he has figured out which family member is most likely to get him his needs

Is this really a big deal or was the BCBA just saying stuff because he could see I was very discouraged that day??

WOW!  Excellent news!

And yeah, it IS a very big deal!
