So, I know once or 2 times I have talked about weapons on here with a few others, or I have heard others talk about them. I have always had a facination with the military, almost joined the USMC before my parents talked me into going to collage instead. So anyways, ever since I was 7-8 years old, and watching almost the entire Desert Storm conflict on TV, I have always wanted an M-16 varient, just legal for me to have. This thing is sweet, the same varient the military uses, NATO ect... Not sure how many people on here like that sort of thing, I have wanted one for years, most of my life, now the democrats may re-ban these assult rifles, so I felt pressured to go buy one with just about every last $$ I had on earth so that if these weapons get banned again I already have one. I already shot 3 clips, feels very powerful, my ears are still ringing. Basicly I have friends over the years who shoot behind their houses, or at gun ranges, ect, so thats about all ill do with mine since I dont hunt, its just for recreational target practice. I may post pictures, I took the thing apart to mess around with it, ill re-assemble it, and then begin to read the instructions for cleaning, care and parts since I have never owned a gun before. Its amazing tho, how easy it was to get any old gun, let alone a military stile assualt rifle, aparently my ASD and other stupid stuff I did in high school and collage didnt show up, the guy at the gun store made me sign a bunch of papers, then he claimed to call the FBI to make sure I wasnt a felon, I went in the store, and bought that gun in 15 mins!!! Kinda nuts! So ya, I may post pictures for those of you who are interested, I wasnt sure how many people on here would like it... or not. I have friends with similar guns, but I have NEVER met someone who had an assult rifle like mine, heh.... Now I gotta figure out where to put it, how to lock it up and hide it, ect... I hadnt really thought about these things until I got the weapon ya know... Luckily I live alone so its not a huge concern. Still... The worst thing I could think of, and why I still need to find a place to lock it up is cause some idiot could get into my place, and because its a military assult rifle basicly it could really be bad since I doubt even the police around here have a weapon like this, I definatly think guns like this should be harder to obtain, but none the less ill have fun with it. . If you're worried about it, just put it in the back of your closet or under your bed and store the ammo in another hiding place until you can get a locking safe or cabinet. Woodsman, Congratulations. My birth father collects guns and I've been to the range quite a few times. The H&K semi-automatic assault rifle is my favorite LOL. You NEED a gun safe. They are not cheap but IMHO they are not optional when you have weapons in your home. I just took a quick look and the safes are pretty pricey for the size weapon you have (min. $500) however there are gun cabinets available that could do the trick. Cabelas has something reasonable that might work for you. Ahhh thats guys! Indeed, I put it back together sucessfully but for some reason am afaid to use it again, I may in the mean time until I have more money in the future (I am currently broke now...) get those safes, in the mean time I am going to rig my closet in my bed room with a lock, ill do it this week after work.I have never owned a gun, but shot one many times, even an illegal assult rifle once years ago, it was suped up like a tactical weapon, but I have no interest in anything like that, I am happy with what I have, and because of budget constraints I doubt ill use it alot until 2009, it will be locked up, I have a trigger lock, the ammo is being stored in another hiding spot and I really havnt told anyone except for my neghboor who was in the Army in the 1980's about it so he can help if I have trouble or cant put it back together, heh.... I may post pics of me with it, havit decided yet if I should, maby you will get lucky Maybe this is a silly idea, but if you are not using it for protection, why not take it apart and store the pieces in different locations?
Get some ear protection, before you hear ringing in your ears for life. Seriously you need ear protection before you shoot it again. Have fun and be very careful.
If you want to 'show it off' and keep it safe you can try pulling the firing pin. We have guns in the house that are all locked up. Not only are the guns locked in a safe, all the ammo is locked up in a foot locker in the basement. Just an idea! Congrats on your new purchase.
I gotta say, woods, I don't get the gun thing in this country. Then again, I grew up in the inner city and still do a "dive" when I hear a car backfire, so it's personal. :) I didn't realize people are able to buy assault weapons that are military---it kind of scares me, to be truthful. Not everyone is as responsible as you are, if you know what I mean? Can you help me to understand why people want these things around? I really don't get it, but again, I am tainted from guns falling into the wrong hands so I would love to hear a view on how they can be used (assault weapons--military weapons) for pleasure? It might open my eyes to a more open view. Please just be careful--if there is anything fool proof for safety on these things, please use it. I know I did have friends that collected rifles, and had those big safes that they locked them in. Where I come from, the crowd that was not the good crowd to hang out with, would hear of a house that had such things and break in. If it is in a good safety box, it was hard to get at them. That is the only thing that concerns me, other than your own safety as well. I would love to hear views but, not in a debate type of way. I am open minded about most things and not here to say, "Moses toted a gun..ugh" lol..(as in Charlton being NRA spokesman)..just wondering about it is all. Can ya shed some light on it, woodsy? I value your opinions. *into mom mode now*..BE CAREFUL! lol Altough I am not a gun person, I am going to start the process of getting one soon myself. 2nd Amendment and all. Enough said! Please be safe Woodsman.
Maybe this is a silly idea, but if you are not using it for protection, why not take it apart and store the pieces in different locations?
Well... thats how stuff gets lost, and then an $1300 gun becomes worthless pretty much. I wanna lock it up, and keep it intact, I wont make it easy for anyone other then myself to get too. All I have so far is a trigger lock, but its not good enough this day and age, ultimatly I am responsible for it, even if it falls into someone elses hands, NOBODY EVER will handel that unless I am right their, I dont loan stuff like that out after all... I vow NEVER to tell my parents I have a gun at all, let alone an assult rifle, they will never know just for those reasons! I know plenty of people who have guns, I had just enough money to buy the biggest, baddest and bestest gun out of everyone I know. Part of it is I guess to show my friends how puny theirs are , but also, its just so much fun, and fills that void that I have always had since I never joined the USMC and probably never will.
Its fun to shoot, it looks mean, and their are more accessories for it then any other weapon on earth, tho here in NYS I can easily turn a very bairly legal fire arm into a multyple felony by adding certain stuff, that isnt 'avalible' but I know enough people so that I can get certain things like pistol grips, lazers, bannanna clips, and with a little engineering I can make mine fully automatic if I then wanna spend a few years in prison... ill pass on all that. It can be a protection thing, afterall, their are alot of idiots and nuts around here, if I hear a window break in the middle of the night dont think for a second I wont wake up and insantly without thinking have that in my hands, I know I have something that will always be more powerful then anything that person has, the idea is NOT to ever have to use it, someone breaking in sees me with that and they run off, or say for instance utilities fail for several days, here in the nuclear capitol of NY, their is looting and chaos, people will think twice before trying to do soemthing crazy... I hope NEVER to have these scinarios play out, but it can and does happen (katrina for ex.) Its just a really fun, expencive thing to have, most of the year it will never see the light of day. Its end of the world inshurance now God forbid civilization comes to an end I can hunt, I can deture others from taking my food and raiding my stuff, ect ect... Again, I bought it for fun and to fill my void, those are just worst case scinarios I hope never occure. I couldnt as much as I tryed for over 20 mins to get the lighting I needed to get pics of me aiming and holding it... maby its almost better I dont advertise to the world I have this + then maby someone would stumble upon my pics and know who I am... Okay, woods...It's a personal thing and I get that. I won't comment any further except--seeing a picture and thinking a neighbor might be able to get a hold of one for "a toy", kinda scares the bejeebers out of me! LOL *decides her cave in tibet theory is looking better and better* lol
Okay, woods...It's a personal thing and I get that. LOL *decides her cave in tibet theory is looking better and better* lol
You are right, these things are 2 easy to get ahold of and I doubt small town poilice can aford them for all their officers. I had that gun in like 20 mins, quick phone call to the FBI and I had it, its the number 1 civilan assult rifle in the USA, expencive, complex. I think it should be harder, the reason I even posted this is to show that ASD DOESNT have an effect as an adult in purchasing a fire arm. But... if they do make it ANY harder to get, then I would not have one since I have a slight criminal record (from collage... all stupid stuff nothing weapon related) and as soon as they see 'HFA' DX'ed as a kid... guess what, theyll find me mentally unfit to have a gun, let alone this particular one! I was shocked their was not a waiting period, their should IMO be a MANDITORY 72 hr hold since someone angry can buy one, have it in 20 mins, and go do whatever, they dont know me, only what I write down on the papers ya know?? Gun laws (for THESE assult rifles) need to be a TAD more strickter, their is no reason I should have gotton it so easily and quickly, whats really screwed up is the police around here are carring dinky pistols, 9mm, .45's, what the hell is that going too do they cant even get close enough to someone holding one of these without taking fire, POLICE everywhere should have these... God I hope they do, if its this easy to get um and all. Their are ALOT of trustworthy ppl who deserve these guns, it is America afterall, but just because someone isnt a 'felon' doesnt mean they automatically should be able to purchase them. I trust myself, but maby not so much anyone else, and I am sure everyone else feels the same way... Well... none the less may God bless America. Ohhh ya, and as for the Tibet thing... I wouldnt go their the Chinese may overrun it again. Heh... im kidding. Ya, gun control is a touchy subject, but something like what I have NEEDS to NOT be treated like any regular gun, its clearly not. In the least they should have put me on a waiting list, and EVERYONE else, I had no problem with that, but they handed that thing over as quickly as they could it seemed, heh... Gun stores!! We have 3 guns. One is an antique shotgun that my grandmother passed down. I'll never get rid of that one. It belonged to her dad. It is valuable monetarily and sentimentally. Another is a rifle my husband bought for hunting, but he never has time to hunt. And I really don't remember how we came to acquire the third one. I am looking into buying a handgun for myself. I have wanted one ever since my honeymoon. (I know, that sounds strange.) My husband and I went to a rifle range during our honeymoon. He is a former Marine and when he was still active duty, we used to go to the pistol range alot. I really enjoyed it and I'm a good shot. I can't really tell you why guns don't bother me.

Maybe this is a silly idea, but if you are not using it for protection, why not take it apart and store the pieces in different locations?
Well... thats how stuff gets lost, and then an $1300 gun becomes worthless pretty much.
I was thinking that you could do this until you got a gun safe or some other long-term solution. lol Woods--actually, I take away the LOL and the fact that, you called the FBI and got it makes me even MORE scared. Maybe there is something to the Kennedy Assassination theory? *very bad joke but..um...still, very scary about the weapon* I understand military. I certainly understand hunting needs. Thanks for explaining further, and understanding my concern. Kelly, I think he meant the owner of the gun shop called the FBI to make sure Woodsman didn't have a federal record or warrant.I was hesitant to have a weapon in my home, but with my husband being gone for months at a time, he wanted me to be safe. It took a lot of times at the range for me to be okay with it and to see it as a tool, not a big scary thing that was going to go off randomly and hurt someone. But I do think there should be a waiting period for a weapon. hi Mad, thanks for clearing that up. Monday's are my day of recoop from working long hour weekends, so I probably didn't read it right. I do understand the weapon for protection thing. I have a nice, thick baseball bat behind my door. I probably became paranoid about having one with kids, after having my childloss website for so long (i became paranoid about everything with that site--even water sports..not kidding). I used to allow people to send me links to their personal sites, so parents could connect with specific child loss issues (due to death), and that was one link that seemed to be the biggest one, and kept growing. It isn't guns, per se. It's the machine gun issue that scares me. We used to have one on display in "portuguese village", which was one of the many ethnic areas of Lowell. It kept "disappeariing"--a relic of wwii. They would replace it, and add more locks, only to have it gone, again the next day. Funny thing is, it was at a round-about (called rotaries in Mass.), and heavy traffic area. It cracks me up that no one ever say anyone stealing the thing. Anyway, I do appreciate people explaining this in a way that isn't becoming a debate. I didn't want one--sometimes, I like to hear different views on what others feel about issues--not for judgment purposes but out of being able to see different perspectives. Thanks again.
Dave dude
Nice assault rifle partna you do have the right to bear arms
(larry the cable guy Git R Done) sorry i havent been around lately very busy but i wanted to congradulate you on your new purchase and remind you to be safe personally im thinking of buying a taser one day myself in a few years for protection reasons at the utmost or if that wasnt feasable maybe a can of mace im not sure of the laws on having those and what not ill have to look that up one day in the future.
Its not a matchine gun, its an assult rifle. I can modify it very quickly and easily to fire auto like a matchine gun, but then I will get free room and board in the state pen for a while for carrying an illegal firearm, many add ons as well as modifications are illegal with many guns, this in particular has special rules because its a "military" weapon. You can get anything these days, but it may or may not be legal, or legal to carry and concel. Ohh BTW hey man, whats up... I have been buissy too, I always try to check in here, but ya, latly its been mad too. Glad to see ya around man!

Dave dude

yep same here alot of restructuring going on at the workplace, new boss plus now its dark out at 5 around here frigid cold out too im starting to get back into the swing of things though so thank god for that Same here dude ive missed ya By the way are you ordering the Lesnar coture Ufc fight ? im going to have to put down some green for that bad boy Naw man, I will miss that UFC, I am broke after spending an entire mounths salery basicly in 15 mins, dangerously broke actually... All well... I know another place where they are ordering it, its a party across town that I always can go to if I BYOB or pay at the door if I wanna drink keg beer, but that place is always too crazy, cant enjoy the fight because everyone is loud and drunk. Plus latly they have been lettin in under age kids, turning the place into a frat house kinda, so I aint goin, ill probably shoot more clips, maby dial in the sights on the thing to get it even more accurate and spend another couple days worth of pay on bullets, heh... all well who needs electricity and heat, heh...Lastnight I told my parents what I bought, I had it for a week and only used it once. They didnt seem to upset about it, but they dont want me firing it behind their house which of course thats the area I planned on shooting because its big, its far away from people and buildings, and their is a gravelpit that has gravel hills I can use to stop the bullets. It was kinda an impulse buy item, I had the money saved... just enough actually, got it, not really understanding that these things require lots of time and care, when I got it, I thought it would be all fun and games kinda, but I have not used it because of all the work, and money that needs to go into it to keep it in good shape, and to prevent it from exploding during operation, I am still learning. To make matters worse I cant get .223's anywhere in my area, and have to drive 45 miles, pay $3 for 5 bullets ($6/clip) or $30/box then another 45 miles back home to shoot, find a place in the woods away from houses (I have that, but im afriad of hunters being around) so really its turning out to be much more of a finanial, logistical, engineering, and even dare I say liability then what I had hoped for when I shelled out my life savings on what I thought would be essentially all fun and games, a very VERY dangerious toy. Another complication in a life that I try to keep as simple, and routine as possible to avoid frusteration and stress. None the less, my friends like seeing and holding it, its something almost identical to what the troops in Vietnam and Desert Storm used, SWAT and law enforcement ect ect... Except rendered so civilians dont have auto fire, which I already figured out how to disable, but I wont dare cause then me owning this rifle now becomes a federal offence, heh... no need for that.
Im glad that youre parents werent mad at you im not sure but i think my brother likes that desert storm stuff too sucks about the 223s i agree partna no need to fix the auto fire you dont need a federal offence oh by the way very big win for him hes definently doing alot better in the ufc then he was in febuary Ya, I cant beleive leasnar won, hes big and strong but doenst (I thought anyways) have the skill needed to be a champ. He could kick my ass any day tho, heh...
id bet if we teamed up we could take him
ive never even used a credit card period
man i can only hope that im able to do some of the awesome things youre able to do every day one day i find you very inspirational i hope you know that
i havent even reached the apex of independence you have i like hearing about your life and experiences and all of your cost cutting tips
when I got the gun I needed accessories, but one thing was missing... LOTS LOTS LOTS AND... LOTS of ammunition, cause you never know if the world will end, the country gets invaded or .233 cal. 5.56 mm. lead becomes expencive and hard to get, so I stocked up. youre right about that partna ( i was watching the movie independence day a few weeks ago looters swarm like flys) an invasion would not be good either and i agree if stuff becomes to expensive its good to already have plenty stocked .
impressive most impressive you and me can drive the tank dave dude which do you want to do
ive been calling up indiana trying to find someplace lately good lord am i going to be terrified to see how much that cost
heh... so much for fiscal responsibility!
The bullets are all full metal jacket rounds! to quote my man steve O " awesome dude"
Against my parents wishes I shot a TON of times behind their house, I was emptying clips like CRAZY, after a while tho I had to stop I started feeling like any min and the SWAT team would show up, state troopers and a hele... I was 500' away from the nearest house, shooting at a thick plastic pipe turned upside down, and the bullets I made sure were hitting the mound of dirt behind it, stopping them, but still the thing is loud, and I was emptying clips as fast as I could pull the trigger, probably sounded like a war zone in that neghboorhood, I got super paranoid, knowing my parents were not home and all, I took everything I had, leaving behind the cratriges and target, removed the clip, and booked outa the woods to the car before some police officers arrived to harass me about the noise and excessive shooting. Heh... TANK you say?? Well undoubtedly I will not drive or trust my life in any tank other then the M1 Abrams. We can take turns driving and operating the main gun. Heh... Ya... I am 4+ years older then ya so dont worry about compairing yourself too me cause at your age I was still living at home also! I wanted to see that UFC 91 but didnt wanna go to the party across town and didnt have enough money to order it... I bairly can aford everything I need after buying that very costly gun... so im financially shut down probably till some time in 2009, and still gotta do Christmas shoppin! So... how come you keep calling outa state??? What are you looking for? If you wanna save money on your bill try using the NET man. Or tell me what you are looking for and I can probably find it for ya.
Jeeze... if u were around ill let ya pop a clip or 2... aww thanks dave

that they do good idea to get out of dodge
M1 abrams it will be that is reassuring thank you dave sometimes i feel older then i really am man sounds like it with the cost and all atleast the gun was worth it though i will say though lesnar killed coture they are calling it one of the biggest upsets in ufc history both wwe and tna congradulated lesnar on their websites i loved the show i do hope that you have enough for christmas shopping the economy is terrible.
Im glad you asked im not even sure myself but to sum it up the best way i can im trying to find someone and help a person ive heard of who has had it very hard in life but i dont know where he is yet im hoping i can find his phone # and i can say some kind words to him and help him turn his life around it may sound crazy to some people but it makes perfect sense to me i can pm you further details if you want any . M1 abrams it will be do you want me to install a tripod (or whatever theyre called) near the hatch for your gun? No need! M1's are already equiped with them, but the turret itself can be used to fire bullets, next to the main gun with the same aim is a matchine gun built into the turret. Heh... A little FYI about the M1 Abrams! The American M1 main battle tank has a turret that is equiped with gyroscopes, this and computer calculations allows the turret to fire on the move, taking into account distance to target and terrain, moving up and down, fast or slow, whatever, that gun once locked on the target stays on target, I beleive it is the first tank to ever have this technology. i will say though lesnar killed coture they are calling it one of the biggest upsets in ufc history both wwe and tna congradulated lesnar on their websites Ya, I KNOW... I wish I could have seen it, I NEVER thought Lesnar could win! So is he heavy weight champ in his division then? It was the title fight right?
Yep he is the legitimate Ufc Champ |
