Anyone here from the Denver area?

Back to Autism Information >> Next Topic

We just found out yesterday that we will be relocating to Denver (we currently live in the Dallas area).  My husband got a very good job offer.  We have a 13 y/o son with Autism, so I was hoping to get information on Denver (in general), and also opinions about the schools, and services provided.  TIA for any info. Hi Sheridan, My husband, son & I live in the Denver Area. We live in Aurora,Colorado, about 30 minute drive from Downtown Denver. We also have a 13 year old son with Autism! The School Districts in Denver are not very good. The BEST school district is Cherry Creek. My son,Joey has an Excellent Teacher!! We have lived here for about 4 years now. If you would like to contact me that would be great. My E-Mail Adress is    ironsma@hotmail.com   I can give you more info. and maybe we can talk.Mary---hi!  Thanks for the information.  We are actually leaving tomorrow mornign to fly to Denver for a 4-day househunting trip. We have about 7-8 houses in the Cherry Creek ISD (some in Aurora and Centennial) for our Realtor to show us! Who knows...maybe we'll end up as neighbors!   I will email late next week when we get back. Oops, I see I have a typo on the word "morning", but there's no edit.  Oh well!

hello....

we are in aurora, co as well.  I would NOT recommend the aurora school district, but definitely check out cherry creek district.  also douglas county school district has a great autism program (at least their preschool autism program is great from what i hear).

Hi Pamela, and thanks for the info.

We just got back this evening from a 4-day househunting trip to Denver.  I think we've decided on trying to find a house in Castle Rock.  It is so pretty there...my DH and DD just fell in love with it.  And it's Douglas County Schools, so that's good.  We looked at some homes in Aurora in the Cherry Creek ISD, but didn't find anything that wowed us.  I just hope our house here sells!

I'm sure you will love castle rock.  And really - you can't go wrong with douglas county schools.  The psychologist who diagnosed my son RAVED about the district and i've wonderful things from other people as well.

Just to make you feel better, I was raised in Castle Rock.  It was a great place to live!  (Just gets too cold for me these days)  Anyway, the schools are fantastic, and it's the perfect size of town..not too big or small!  I lived there from age 3-19, then moved out to Las Vegas.  Let me know if you have any questions.  Good luck!!

We live in the NE suburbs in Brighton. i do really like Adams County schools, although i know Cherry Creek is the best for ASD. I hope your move goes well, maybe we can have a Denver get together soon!
