Human Services came

according to the Department of Developmental disability, once you receive an autism diagnosis, and get on the Medicaid CES waiver, you don't recert until they change services at age 18. But i will ask.Just so you are aware, you have to re certify every year for Medicaid Waiver.  They are notorious for losing your paperwork.  So ANYTHING you send them, keep copies, send certified mail, etc.

They do not make life easy for you, to say the least.  We are going to court for 2nd year now because they say they didn't receive certification documents.

Don't want to alarm you, but wish I had been aware of this in the beginning.  You must keep on top of it.

Dawn, good job getting help. My sons therapist told me last week to call ARC in our area for Autism waiver and more services. How was the process for you? I've heard lots of paperwork? Anything you can tell about? Did they come to your home? I have not called yet to set appt, but will tomorrow. Any advise. Thanks

Adam has his papers split so he can do math.  Too many problems on a page are hard, or sometimes you can take a blank piece of paper and cover all but one problem at a time.  That really helps.

I hope you get approved.

Thanks i'll suggest it to his teacher!and we completed Trace's Medicaid waver form. She really filled in a lot i didn't think about but yet applied. so HOPEFULLY he'll get services! Cuz he'd have it until he's 18. Keep your fingers crossed....he ages out this month out of Kaiser.I'll cross mine for you! Whoo! I thought from your post that possibly you'd been reported for abuse. In some states, Human Services is the name for social services across the board and I am very thankful that wasn't the case for you! Here's where they actually HELP people - yeah! (I'm a former social worker so always glad when people are helped by us!).typing this with crossed fingers! i worried that social services came... I'm SO glad that you might be getting some HELP. How's Trace?

oh crap. i didn't think about that! NO this was for HELP! hehe

Molly, Trace is doing ok. He struggles in kindergarten with math because the pages are too busy and he can't focus. But he LOVES going to school, and has 2 "buddies" he loves to chill out with. so i'm glad for that!

Now if we could just stop the screaming outbursts and wandering.......
