May move from Cananda to USA

I am in need of some help.

My father whom has altimers and his family are wanting me to bring my 3 boys there to live. the situation is this my Dad has been getting worse they would like for him and my three and I to get to know each other and for me to finally meet my fathers side of the family.

I am planning a trip to disney in Novemeber and am finding that a bit hard as I am not sure how my kids will be in disney. Durning this time I am hoping to visit with my dad and some of his family.

I am really considering packing up my kids and moving to flordia whic will me an extreamly big move as we are in Ontario Cananda, and would move all the way to South Flordia.

So here is my questions how do I find the supports my kids would need, eg OT, Special Ed teachers, thrapsit respite etc. How do I get all this if I am a Canadian.

If someone can help me out a bit and give me some good advice and a few websites that could give me some great info I would be so thankful.

I live in S FL. The schools here provide OT,ST, PT in school with an IEP. It can take a bit to get all of that accomplished (we've had good luck, but not without fighting for it) I have also consulted numerous private consultants to make sure Payne is well accounted for. We have a few places that provide respite, but mostly with medicaid (which we make too much money for) but thankfully some providers allow us to just pay them for it too - we just did that yesterday so DH and I could see The Dark Knight - which was awesome BTW...I'm preggers and we won't be able to go out much after September so I figured it was a good time. CARD (Centers for Autism & Related Disabilities ) is here in FL  - they were a HUGE help to me here finding specialists, educating teachers, daycares, etc but their budgets have been as has almost everything here in FL now. Ugh. Where in Florida are you looking to go - I can reference more websites that way...

www.specialchildren.about.com just had a feature on Disney for kids with sensory issues.  Here's the link:

Are you an American citizen?  If not, how hard is it to get permission to immigrate?

Good luck, whatever you choose.

Is your father american?Good luck if you move.  Sorry to hear about your dad.

Thank you for all your responses and help.

My father lives in North Lauderdale, FL 33068-1306, if I were to move I would want to move close to where he is.

No I am not an American citizen, but my father and his wife are as well as all his family, I have been told they would sponsor me, and even if with my own issues I would look for work before I even left to go there more likely part time.

Also even though I know flordia is a realy nice place, and all and most of my fathers family lives there I am sure that I would move back to Canada in a few years. So for me this is a hard hard choice, and I want to make sure its the best for everyone.

I would love to know what its like to live among a a family that is so supportive and positive towards each other, I would love to get to know them and for them to get to know my boys and myself.

I do fear that I might do more damage if I make two large moves within a 2 to 4yrs span yet I have been told that I also need to get myself heathy both emotionally and physically if I am ever to countinue to care for all three of my boys.

Former canadian here. Our kids were born in the us but I'm glad we are here vs Canada. The only thing we miss for the kids is having cousins around. We have moved several times within the state but are trying to stay put now that they are making friends that they want to keep.
