Focus MedicationI have a 5 yr old son (dx-pdd nos) , who has trouble focusing when people talk to him or when he needs to talk to people. I was just wondering has anyone every used medication to help their child focus better in order to help with their auditory processing and/or envionment overload. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I wish I was starting again, My son has just turned 17 and it's harder to put him on a special diet although he is, I have taken him off dairy and sugar(2 yrs ago), gluten has to come next.. if I were you I would seriously look at his diet, possibly take out the gluten and dairy from his diet... you may find he will focus much much better as a result. My son became very aggressive at about the age of 8 and was put on risperdal, this helped for a while and I have to tell you I was very reluctant, as he got older and a teenager he became worse, and I often was a target of his aggression, so his meds were upped and chlorpromazine was added to the mix, now he has gained loads of weight, but he is getting older, sometimes becomes very frustrated as he cannot express himself and gets very cross.. I just wish wish I had known then what I know now, a total diet change may have made all the difference. If I could get him off the meds I would in a heartbeat! but it has to be done so slowly and have only started, it could take 5 yrs to get him all clear... ![]() |
