OK, I'm moving this entire freaking thing over here because it gets absolutely buried over there in the Parents forum. Feel free to spank me with a big crooked switch if I've made a bad decisison.
OK seriously, here ya go... These are threads in which I have addressed specific issues concerning autism, and have done my best to explain them first hand. "Phobias" http://www.autism-pdd.net/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=18152&KW =stickboy26 "Sensory issues" http://www.autism-pdd.net/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=21401&KW =stickboy26 "Meltdowns" This one was one of my first posts on this forum and has gotten more replies as a single topic than any other thread I have started. I consolidated this one so that it would not be spread throughout the entire thread as it was previously. http://www.autism-pdd.net/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=16187&KW =stickboy26 Casey's Question; Meltdown scenario. http://www.autism-pdd.net/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=27363&KW =stickboy26 "Non-compliance and over compliance" http://www.autism-pdd.net/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=23671&KW =stickboy26 "Social masking/passing for NT/depression" http://www.autism-pdd.net/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=27820&PN =2&TPN=1 See, insomnia can be used for good, after all!
I would like to add that when reading, if for a specific problem/situation you are trying to correct, you have to read a few times, and kind of read between the lines and think of in a broader sense (hard to explain). I say this because in my particular case, I read it, thought this is perfect, but didn't solve my problem right away. After going back and kind of studying - WELLA! it clicked, I saw something (or understood something) I didn't the first time. Our school problem has been solved 100% for weeks now, thanks to Nick's thread. I went to school with this info in my head and finally understood exactly what was happening with ds. I can't tell you what a relief this was, and how happy we all are. ![]() Thank you, thank you, thank you. Wow I never expected this to fall off the page so quickly over here.... Oh well -- I guess three weeks here beats 3 hours over in the parents' forum, right? you know stickboy I think alot of people just use the 'active button' to pull up those threads most recently relyped too. I think this stuff is great, and really wish I could write as good as you, hell I cant even put into words alot of how I feel, writing helps, but still... I ramble and rant instead, go off topic, heh.
Anyways I think EVERYONE has and SHOULD read this page along with Norway moms collection, and they do, its just everyone is reading and not replying is all. Personally I would seriously keep bumping this cause new guys come on here a bit and they may miss it cause its not active. Thanks for bumping this up. I'm still new to all this, and I think there are some things here that I really need to read.I'm glad this thread is here with everything all noted together. As Janie said there are somethings us newbies really need to read. We are still getting to know our daughters full sensory needs and dislikes and I'm so glad to have info like this available to help us help her. WOW - stickboy26 - thanks so much for putting these out for us to read. You write so well. I hope you will continue to share. BTW my NT 9 daughter put together a poster about my ASD son for his classroom at school and she labeled it "Stickman" because he loves stick-like stuff so much bump again....
