Autistic symptoms

My Joshua exhibits autistic symptoms among others.  He is a child with traumatic brain injury.  While he is diagnosed TBI, symptoms of various disabilities occur and are treated with him in the same manner as a child with the actual disability, other than meds.  He is on seizure medication so we are doing the best we can to treat him with cognitive therapy, behavior management, diet and nutrients.  The exercise part is a biggy.  He has symptoms of laziness or lethargy?

Joshua is high functioning with an IQ of 62.  He is reading on almost a first grade level and he is going into 6th grade.  He has retention and behavioral issues.  I am his aunt and have regained custody in 2006 so this is very new to me at this age.  I was his custodial guardian from about 2 1/2 months to about 4 years.  It was much easier then.

I recently joined this messege board to glean from you and hopefully share what I have with you, however, I am not sure I am using it properly, I need to find the instructions.

Welcome to the board:)

Hope you find lots of resources here..we have many knowlegable people with lots of info and links to everything from A to Z

We used ABA therapy with our dd for 3 years and it did wonders...I am a huge promoter for it to teach language, eye contact, social skills..self help skills and extinguishing behaviors ect...our dd is doing great and not sure where she would be without doing this type of therapy.

I am glad you found us and hope you learn from us as we learn from you too!
