SUPER NU THERA - Increase in stims??We are still giving the super nu thera at 1/2 dose and are hoping to see a decrease in the stimming (I went to a support meeting last night and was told by another parent that the stim increase can happen but that it should start to fade in intensity - supposedly one of their docs. told them that). For Amy...I can tell you one definite pro that we are seeing...a HUGE improvement with sleeping (I have heard that is not the case for everyone). My son is sleeping through the night and has since the 4th day he was taking this and his sleeping went from 4-5 hours at night to about 9.5 - 10.5. Vic, I meant to put this in my last post....at what point did you notice the stim decrease? I am just curious if you remember (I know a lot can happen in 2 years time). Thanks.
Vic, You know, it has been two years, but I think it was about 2 months before we saw a significant drop in the stims. It just happens that this coincided with the end of the school year, too, so I don't know if that was a coincidence or not, and the stims have never resumed at the same intensity that they were at previously to the SNT. HTH Vic My son has been on SNT w/o Vitamins A & D for two years now. With it's introduction we saw increased verbalizations w/meaning, more socialization, development of "real" imaginative play (now if that isn't an oxymoron....lol Stimming did increase temporarily, but it wasn't so bad that I had big problem with it. He starting flapping more, and still flaps his hands a little when anxious or excited, but he doesn't do it wildly or frantically anymore unless really, really upset or frustrated. He does do this patting of his sides or pushing his fingers into his belly (does that make sense?) almost constanly, but nobody makes a big deal of it or really notices it too much except us and his teachers. Verbal stims seemed to increase the most with the SNT and have stuck around, but honestly, I don't care because at least he's "here" and not somewhere "out there" anymore. The stimming has reduced, whether it is because he has adjusted to the SNT, gotten older, or due to other diet changes and/or therapies, I can't say. For all I know, the extra stimming with the addition of the SNT may have just been a reaction that comes with suddenly giving a deprived body what it needs; kind of like the die-off reactions you get when starting yeast treatment or the scd or gf/cf diets. Vic
My son has been on SNT w/o Vitamins A & D for two years now.
Whoops! That should say "SNT with Vitamins A & D"......sorry about that. Vic hmmm Jaden started SNT on the 16th, so that makes it two and a half weeks...She has been flapping her hands some, where she didn't before...BUT she also has said new words and has way better eye contact--even looks when you call her name sometimes.... So I probably just confused you SNT has 225 mg of B-6 which is 11250% daily value. This seems like an awful lot of a good thing to me. But I'm hearing a lot of good things about SNT as well. Some doctors say try it and some say not to bother. ????? I'm so confused, of course I'm overly cautious about everything, to a fault! Thanks.. |
