SUPER NU THERA - Increase in stims??

I also found my son increased his scripting when on Super Nu Thera. I decreased it considerably but found he stopped wanting to go anywhere. i have sinced increased it by 1ml per dose. He is back wanting to be involved but not so much scripting. Previously he was on 15ml per day(in 3 doses of 5ml) - now he is on 12ml(in 3 doses of 4 mls) - he is 17 years old. Its close to good. Have tried the DMG and DMG with folinic acid - both seemed to agitate him, but might try the latter again soon. Think I will also order a trial of the TMGMy granddaughter was on SNT for about 2 years.  She did well at first on it - but she also started the gfcf diet at the same time.  We recently took her off as we started enzymes.  Her body started to actually absorb food and supplements and it was too much B6.  She is on a different vitamin (can't remember which) with a lower dose of B6.  B's can also cause more yeast which in turn causes more stimming and less sleep.  Yikes, it never ends does it????Thanks to all of have responded (and the bump)....

We are still giving the super nu thera at 1/2 dose and are hoping to see a decrease in the stimming (I went to a support meeting last night and was told by another parent that the stim increase can happen but that it should start to fade in intensity - supposedly one of their docs. told them that).

For Amy...I can tell you one definite pro that we are seeing...a HUGE improvement with sleeping (I have heard that is not the case for everyone). My son is sleeping through the night and has since the 4th day he was taking this and his sleeping went from 4-5 hours at night to about 9.5 - 10.5.
Vic,

I meant to put this in my last post....at what point did you notice the stim decrease? I am just curious if you remember (I know a lot can happen in 2 years time).

Thanks.

You know, it has been two years, but I think it was about 2 months before we saw a significant drop in the stims. It just happens that this coincided with the end of the school year, too, so I don't know if that was a coincidence or not, and the stims have never resumed at the same intensity that they were at previously to the SNT.

My son has been on SNT w/o Vitamins A & D for two years now. With it's introduction we saw increased verbalizations w/meaning, more socialization, development of "real" imaginative play (now if that isn't an oxymoron....lol)  versus scripted and repetitive play, better eye contact, and he seemed to get better in general health as well.

Stimming did increase temporarily, but it wasn't so bad that I had big problem with it. He starting flapping more, and still flaps his hands a little when anxious or excited, but he doesn't do it wildly or frantically anymore unless really, really upset or frustrated. He does do this patting of his sides or pushing his fingers into his belly (does that make sense?) almost constanly, but nobody makes a big deal of it or really notices it too much except us and his teachers. Verbal stims seemed to increase the most with the SNT and have stuck around, but honestly, I don't care because at least he's "here" and not somewhere "out there" anymore.

The stimming has reduced, whether it is because he has adjusted to the SNT, gotten older, or due to other diet changes and/or therapies, I can't say. For all I know, the extra stimming with the addition of the SNT may have just been a reaction that comes with suddenly giving a deprived body what it needs; kind of like the die-off reactions you get when starting yeast treatment or the scd or gf/cf diets.

Whoops! That should say "SNT with Vitamins A & D"......sorry about that.

Vic

hmmm Jaden started SNT on the 16th, so that makes it two and a half weeks...She has been flapping her hands some, where she didn't before...BUT she also has said new words and has way better eye contact--even looks when you call her name sometimes....

So I probably just confused you  Don't know how much of it is due to SNT, and is the flapping worth all the good stuff coming about? I am thinkign so...

I hope others post on this as well, we've been thinking long and hard about starting Ansley on SNT.  I'm curious what others have to say about the related stimming.  Thanks for the thread! Our research says that too much b-6 can make them hyper.  We've definitely noticed this in Jake.  We're not giving him the SNT, he gets his b-6 separately.  I don't remember how much is in the SNT, but he can only handle about 150 mgs before he gets a little nutty.  I haven't noticed an increase in stims, though, but it's something worth mentioning.

SNT has 225 mg of B-6  which is 11250% daily value.  This seems like an awful lot of a good thing to me.  But I'm hearing a lot of good things about SNT as well.  Some doctors say try it and some say not to bother.  ????? I'm so confused, of course I'm overly cautious about everything, to a fault!   Now, add increased stimming to the cons list and I'm back on the other side of the fence again............I just don't know.

amyleigh38629.8644444444i am curious about this cuz i considering using super nu thera??No advice, just wanted to wish you luck and bump your thread.I know there is a thread on super nu thera but was wondering if anyone out there that is giving this to their child has seen any increase in stimming. We have been using it for about 3 weeks and we have seen an increase in our son's verbal output (quantity and quality) but....when he is not engaged, he is scripting his head off. He has always had the need to script but we had seen a steady decline over the last 4 months. Since the super nu thera, we have seen an increase in the behavior  where it is off the charts . Maybe it's related to such a high does of Vit. B?? or maybe this is just another cycle in this crazy disorder?? Anyway, was wondering if anyone was seeing any increased in stimming and am also wondering if you are giving TMG (or some other anti-oxident)??

Thanks..
