FastforWord through district? My ds has problems with autitory prossessing and I have looked atseveral programs like fastforWord or the Listening Program. I have asked my ds's schools speech therapist if he does FastforWord and he had never even heard of it (guess that answers that question). Anyway - I keep hearing that some kids get it through the school district and I know one local charter school who does it with students. Is there any magic way that I could request Fastfor Word (or something compatible) on the IEP? Those of you who got it trough the schools or paid for by the district - how did you get it? ThanksI'm bumping this question for you. Hope someone has an answer for you. My only thought is to ask the SLP or sped director to research Fast Forward to learn about it then discuss with them whether or not it might help. If it looks like a viable learning tool or your child or others, you might get the FF. The language learning theory Fast Forward is based on is not proven, but there have some good results reported . I believe I read that FF hasn't been proven to be any more effective than other methods though so you might have a tough time convincing the district to invest the resources (the program is quite pricey and training intensive). Let us know how you fare with your school. |
