So proud of my boys!

My husband and I made a decision a long time ago the we would attend weddings and funerals together as a family. (This was before we knew about R's autism.) So now we try to continue this resolution. We were invited to a wedding last Saturday. We sat in the very last row, with snacks and toys to keep R busy. We also kept R between my husband and myself in case of a meltdown during the ceremony. Our other three boys sat on the other side of me. The ceremony went pretty well- it was about 15 minutes long.

Then it was off to the reception. I had packed a supper for R of foods that I knew he would like- he would not touch the delicious roast beef dinner!

But then the dances started. And they had called for all married couples to come to the dance floor. My husband and I just looked at each other, thinking oh, that would be nice. But no one was there to watch R. Then one of my oldest boys leaned over and said, "It's ok mom, I'll watch him. You and Daddy go dance."

I thought I was going to burst into tears right there. So we had the two older brothers (twins that are as tall as I am) sit on each side of R, with our youngest on the end. While my husband and I stole a moment to ourselves to dance, I looked back to see the corner table with four handsome boys watching us.

That is a treasured memory for me.

Thanks for letting me share!

That is great. There is nothing stronger than a brothers bond, even when they fight like cats and dogs. You will be amazed once they grow into adults how close they will be.  your storey brings tears to my eyes. Glad you shared your moment.
