excellent mischief

funniest thing I've heard in a while:
A woman I know at school told a story today in class about how her 12 year
old son embarked on a private mission last year to delete EVERY reference to
Harry Potter on Wikipedia , "just to see what would happen"...

This has made me laugh for hours. Ah, getting back to the 12 year old brain
of a boy . Yes, many things "exploded" and went horribly
awry as would be expected. He was caught because he was literally being
hunted down online by rabid wizardry fans.

THIS is what kids are REALLY doing online in their spare time. I just love this
child.    ahhh ha ha ha. I wonder how you go about doing something like that? I never personally liked wiki, or harry potter but oddly enough my dad likes stuff like that, wizards and all, not my thing...

But as far as wiki, it has been like 'the thing' that everybody I know in collage talks about, for some reason its just supposed to be such a great site full of info.

I checked it out, and all I saw was basicly people just typing what they knew about a particular subject, and the info changes (or in this case erases) constantly, nothing ever remains the same...

I dont like wiki cause ANYBODY can get on, delete what they want, or add, or change, alter, whatever. How do you know the info is true? Their is no citations, yet my collage friends who seem to like it so much are probably using the info for their classes, but none of it can be truly used for reasearch purposes since when you cant site WIKI as a source can ya???

Well I think I am the only guy my age who doesnt like it and refuses to use it, so I say to that kid excellent job!!!    omg, that's amazing!! I can just see the wikipedians bugging out over this little 12 year old!!! He's really brave  Hilarious!!! funny That is phenomenal!

Woodsman, I'm with you. It bugs me how much it changes and how unreliable it can be. The only thing I ever use it for is to get a brief overview of something I don't understand at all, or to see if I can find extra resources for something I already know about (they do have some good citations linked to some articles.)
lol
