Enzyme questionsWe added enzymes to DD's program about a month ago, and I gotta say, I'm really not seeing any difference. She's been on the GFCF diet and several supplements since last fall, and we've seen wonderful results from that. But the enzymes, not so much. The bottle is almost empty, and I was just thinking this morning that I'm not going to bother re-ordering. I was hoping that enzymes might allow me to be more flexible with her diet, but for us, it didn't work. If I allow her to eat any food with gluten or corn, she still goes straight back to Tantrum City. The enzymes don't make a dent, so it looks like we'll be sticking with the diet. Interesting note: our naturopathic Dr. wasn't all that enthusiastic when I suggested trying enzymes. She said it's important not to be on them for too long (no more than 6 months), or you can start to interfere with the body's own natural ability to produce enzymes. We have been using the Houston Pharm. enzymes for about 3 months: Zyme Prime and Peptizide. We ran out of Peptizide (gluten/casein one). I thought I ordered more in time and didn't. We saw absolutely no difference in her going off those. I am assuming she doesn't need them? Since taking his enzymes, my son's behavior hasn't changed although I havent started to gluten free diet yet, but his stool is softer and he hasn't complained of a tummy ache since starting it, which he did quite often before. |
