underwear/airplane question

Hi, ds has been wearing big boy underpants since Christmas afternoon w/no accidents yet. However, we have a big trip back to Italy tomorrow and I don't know whether to have the pull-ups on (just in case) or just be confident w/underwear? Our trip from the time we leave Austin and arrive at our house in Italy will be about 24 hours of straight traveling. Here we go again, planes, trains and automobiles!! I always had my kids wear pull-ups on the plane when they were first trained.  It's not always possible to get to the bathroom in time, due to seatbelt rules and long lines.  I've also used rubber pants.  Bring a change of clothes.

I'd go for pull-ups. What if he doesn't want to go in the plane's bathroom? What if you're stuck on the runway for 4 hours and the bathroom gets gross?

Yeah, I'd say go for the pullups, too.  Otherwise, you'll be obsessing about the issue!  Put on the pullup and have a relaxing flight.  lol

If you think he'll be upset about the pullups, you can always tell him they're plane pants!  Good luck!  Have a safe trip!

Well, we did the underpants thing at 4 and it almost worked. He was so
tired at the end of our plane trip (we were going to Hawaii only) My husband
was holding him at the hotel before check in and we went all over my dh. I
would make him go regularly but should he get tired and sleepy, I would put
the pull-ups over the underwear as LeAnne suggests.

If you do go for pullups, then wear them OUTSIDE his underpants.  If he pees himself, he pees himself...soggy BVDs won't kill you. & you'll have to change the pullup anyway.  You don't want him to lose the big boy underpant thing and regress.

If you go with underpants, then get one or two of those absobent pads you put on the baby's crib sheet...you know what I mean...my husband calls them pot holders.  Just stick one of those under him on the seat.

Happy travels!
