Nutritional help in Texas

Does anyone know of a major hospital, health group, or doctor that helps with autism nutritional needs? I want to try the GFCF diet but with a nutritionists help. It's so much info and so much to do that working with a nutritionist will be great for me and my daughter.

Hi, welcome!  This board is a font of information and support and I'm glad you're here.  Where are you located in Texas?  I'm in Texas.  PM me if you'd rather not put that on publice airwaves.

I'm also in Texas and have considered putting my son on a diet.

I'm curious if there are support groups for families with children that have PDD's

Hello Pat.  It's nice to see a fellow Texan on here.  I'm in Houston. If you know of any resources in my area please let me know.

Thanks !!!!

bless5,

If you can make a trip over to Austin, you could try Thoughtful House. The doctors there specialize in autism spectrum disorders and biomed approaches, as well as following conventional medicine. They offer pediatric gastroenterology services, so should have a very good nutritionist available who should be well-versed in the unique challenges that a child with an autism spectrum disorder would have.

The facility is owned/managed by Drs. Arthur Krigsman, Andrew Wakefield, and Doreen Granpeesheh. Perhaps you recognize these names, as these folks are leaders in autism research and treatment.

The diet is glutin free/ diary free.

Hi everybody

We are located in Houston.  I have been trying to locate a nutritionist and good doctor to help with chelation.  Anyone know of someone good they have used? Thanks!

I am in North East Houston and have good news!  I just got the name of a dietician who helps with this.  The info is in my car, but she is through Texas Childrens and is in The Woodlands.Excellent! I am in Spring so thats nearby. I would be most grateful if you can
share her number with me!The only way to enforce our son's diet is eat at home all the time. This even makes it Hard. He really needs organic ones which we can't afford. Is there Dan Dr.'s near Dallas. If so list phone numbers and names plase. Got an appt with Dr. Volpe... FOR JUNE LOL!!!
his assistant was very helpful and freindly on the phone. I look forward to
working with them.I'm new here, also in NW Houston ( Spring). I was thinking about finding a
nutritionist as well becuase it seems so complicated. My little girl is so
picky to begin with!Ntti in plano has a diatician . We did allergie testing on our son with Dr. Rao in Plano Tx. He can't have these things. Preservatives, Yeast, corn, peas, oats,Pb, Gbeans. Shots for outside ones. We also get Body ballance by lifeforce-intl.com. helping out. It is organic. It is so hard to feed him he is 9 now. This limits his choices. We also do no food dyes.

DR. Volpe is a member of DAN and is located in Houston.

He is a clinical nutritionist dealing with PDD/ADD/autism using vitamin therapy, GFCF, allergy and yeast free diets, Feingold diet, heavy metal detox, ect... He is actually pretty popular,  and i think there is a bit of a waiting list to be seen.
