Showing interest in the potty hello candy26- my ds is pee trained but not the other. i put fruitloops in the potty and told him to hit them with his pee. told him it was a game and when he did it he got a sticker. worked very well. he still refuses to poop in the potty but going to the gi doc. about that. hope that helps cyndie Candy, My ds has been going to his new group speech/lang therapy class for a couple weeks now where they use a lot of the PECS system. My son, 35 months is also interested and sometimes going to the potty but like yours, the communication isn't there to tell me he needs to go, and he also doesn't really care if he has an accident. He however, loves the PECS schedule in his class and they have a bathroom break time when they move a velcro symbol of the potty next to a clock and say "It's time to go to the bathroom". So my new idea is that I'm going to copy those symbols and put them near our bathroom door and do our regular routine which is me taking him in there every half hour or so, but do the routine of having him move the picture symbol and say it. I don't know how it will go yet, but I'm hoping it will help him to start saying it on his own. Good luck! I can't wait for us to get potty training down too. Rachel AJ is pee-pee trained, too. I set the timer and kept taking him in there..set him on the potty...and told him to hold his penis down. That strated him thinking. After months on end with no results (just flukes) I peed in front of him...told him shhhh...listen..hear that...Mommy is going pee-pee. Oh yeah, and when it was a fluke, I got really excited told him he is such a big boy..Good Job..then I ran around the house with him acting nutty. (lol) Always, always make a big deal about it. To this day when I take him in there, if he needs to go he will. Otherwise he will say all de (all done) I am not quite sure how I am going to get him to place his PooPies in the toilet. When I do catch him, he won't lemme touch him or anything. However, when he is done, he will tell me psipsi (PooPies) and take me to the gate. I won't give up as I know he will catch on eventually. have you tried to have him stand and pee...this worked best for Nicholas... I'd let him go naked or would just take him a few time during the day like after he had a lot to drink and I'd stand behind him and w/ my knees push his legs so he was over the potty and we'd wait a min or two (prob less LOL...)and I'd let him flush the toilet, oh joy of joys...and a few times he'd do it...he liked it much better than sitting...he taught himself to go #2 on the potty I'd catch him and put him there to finish up doing his business but then one day he did it on his own and I think he was really hating those diapers and pullups so this summer he fully trained himself...bless his heart...I wish you all the luck in the world, just keep trying what works best for him...and best to you and your family ((((hugs to you dh for his tour!))) and to you too for being home and doing your best!
