AJ has always been 90% height and under 50% weight.  I found some levi jeans (last year) with the adjustable waistband ( elastic/button)  They do work, however, they are more spendy.  We hafta get out and do some shopping for AJ as well.  Ugh!  He does not like to be in clothing stores at all.  He screeeches loudly and I can't get my shopping done.  I will try Old Navy this time around and HOPE his size is there.  They grow soooo quickly..don't they?!

no, your child is not the only one with wide feet Ali, we actually call Connor  Fred flintstone. His feet are the fattest I've ever seen. as far as the clothes, we are the opposite, Connor is a peanut but I do know of stores that carry both "slim" and " "husky" sizes. The Gap and Old Navy come to mind but also I've seen these sizes in stores such as Sears and Kohls. Hope this helps.

Eileen...TOO funny!  That's what we used to call our middle son "Little Fred"  his feet were so huge, I kid you not, when he started wearing "real" shoes, I went to not less than 10 stores trying to find something to fit him, at a year old, the only shoes that would fit over those big feet were for a 7 year old!!!  Needless to say, then he couldn't walk!!  (not even snow boots would fit him!!!!)  We ended up spending for baby shoes at a specialty store!  Thankfully he grew out of that, and they make wides much more nowadays (Vans are perfect by the way for that).

Anyway...Jean...I've had the same problem with Riley too...he kept getting taller, but not wider, and wore pull ups till age 6.  Like Ali, the adjustable waists are the best (you have too look inside the waistband and find that strap with the buttons on them).  Sweat pants (or similar) have been a staple here.  It took Riley till age 5 to finally hit 30 pounds because of illness...and he's been wearing the same clothes since kind. until just this year.

Basically.....Elastic is our friend!  (and YES! Old Navy has stylish elasti-band clothes!)
Good luck ~Lesley

LMBO Eileen!...Flintstone Feet, that's exactly what they look like LOL...how funny! I use to think they'll slim out but nothing doin' and he loves to be barefooted, so I'm always thinking, maybe they are wide enough, maybe they hurt him...I just think he likes to be barefooted I swear! lol

I second that, Old Navy is one of my fav's but BEWARE of the fake elastic pull string, I got sucked into that it was just decoration and as my son walked they slid right on down LOL...Elastic is our friend LOL...good one Lesley!

good luck Jean!

hugs,

Ali

ah the old tin ribs issue lol jack weighs just 30lbs now and he's 6 and a half but he is not much under average height since he is still not potty trained i tend to stick to dungarees/overalls they cover a multitude of sins we find clothes made for 2to3 years fit best on the waist but not in the length while ever he is in nappies i'm sticking to overalls and joggers with the elastic waist.Glad to know we are not the on;y one with this problem

HELP!!!!!!!

n some things DS can wear 5T, in other things it is way too small. The Big Boy 5/6 is smaller in the waist / diaper area than a 5T (I am assuming because most NT kids are no longer wearing diapers?????? Some of the big boy 8's fit him in the diaper area but the sleeves and the pants are soooooooooooo long. Any suggestions? After he started taking the resperdil he gained about 10 pounds, he has lost about 8 since he stopped taking it, but still, winter will be here and he needslong pants...........Am I missing something or do you just have to guess? It is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOoo difficult to get him to try things on, I just buy them and bring them home because we cant do it in the store.......

LMBO, having them try cloths on...that would be a fate worse than...well I can't even think of anything worse my son would go through...unless we are talking about trying dreaded shoes on...that is the ultimate worst!  I keep those reciepts all the time...they call me the queen of returns!

They have boys 4/5 that I bet would fit Pooh!  its not 4t or 5t which can be smaller in some area I noticed...and I dont' always find them but I have better luck w/ that size...I noticed the 5t waist is bigger too in some pants than a 5 in boys...maybe mabye you could look for husky 4 or 5 in boys pants that would be bigger in the waist and shorter in the legs, 5t's are sooo hard to find for some reason...Also I love adjustable waists, I look for them all the time and those seem to help a lot too.  sweatpants w/ drawstrings are good, but if they find them then that can be a whole other issue!

What I would like to know...what is the deal with shoes, why are wide widths soo hard to find, is my son the only child w/ a fat foot???? ugh!

Hugs!

Ali

Jean - I went through the opposite problem with my oldest - she always gets taller but never bigger around.  She's 8 and I just passed down a pair of 3T shorts (that she can still wear believe it or not!) to her 2.5 year sister who is average size.  This time of year (it's still warm in GA) I just let her wear her pants too short because with a cute pair of shoes, they look like capris! She wears anywhere from a 4/5 to an 8 depending on what store - unfortunately it seems like the best fit comes from the most expensive stores.

Would the bigger sizes look right on him if you were able to have a seamstress take them up?  Then maybe at least you could let them out and get more wear out of them.

amyleigh38602.8294560185LOL We are still playing with clothes. I bought everything I thought would fit him. Well at least half have to be returned and we have some 5T's, some 6 big boys and some 8/10 big boys. I have looked at them all (some had tags that gave a height and weight), there is NO rhyme or reason- probably a plot by some deranged elf somewhere (Just kidding).......I don't know, Jean, you might be onto something with the deranged elf
idea.

We usually just buy big and then roll up the legs or sleeves. I figure that
eventually they'll fit him, or they won't, and then his younger brother can
wear them.

I chose to stay away from the bargain places because my big man has a very flat foot as do many African-American children. I wanted to support his foot better. Now that he is  7 and wears a size 4(big people size), i can go to regular sport shoes places when they have a sale and get shoes that fit.

thanks for the happy birthday song. He had gone around inviting everyone he knew to our house. Iwas dying. I knew that no way could he handle that , neither can my budget. So I emailed the kids in his sunday school class and asked the parents to have their kids make Ben a card and that i would provide snacks and juice for the class. Snacks and juice are part of the morning anyway. Then we had one family over for lunch and play. this family has 4 boys:) and they love Ben. Their mom said that the boys were cheering discover that they were the only ones invited. So, the kid had a great day and is right now playing football in his room against his bed. sweet

Greetings! Benjamin had the wide foot issue until recently and he will be 7 in the morning. I'm guessing it's a baby fat issue.?.? At any rate, He wears a size 10-12. Yep, in first grade. 99% in BMI. He is going to be huge! The boy stays on a permanent growth  spurt. I shop at Sears and Old Navy. They make clothes for american-sized(super-sized) children with ample room for shoulders and bottoms. I used to have to go to Stride-Rite for all shoes. They do have outlets, and other places are beginning to carry that brand. Stride-rite was the only ones that carried wide children's  shoes.Good luck, it does get easier as they get older and there are more options.  Janet celebrating38605.7342361111
