I've never given TJ cows milk. I tried at age one and he threw it up. He has been on soy milk for almost 2 yrs. I'm not sure what is causing it. T should live in a allergy free bubble if they made one . I know it got worse after we moved to CO.
amberwaves39405.4887847222both of my kids had eczema since babies.  when I removed milk, it disappeared and has never returned.

My youngest son would primarily get it behind his ears, on his legs, and on his torso.  We got a prescription from his pediatrician for a creme that worked really well.  The PX was for Fluocinolone Acet 0.025% Creme 15GM.

The eczema actually started to go away at around age 5.  My son is now 6 and it's no longer a problem.  I

I have eczema but only break 2 times a year. T has eczema  bad. T won't wear clothes, it's mostly his legs and face. His  legs are always red, even before eczema kicks in. I've been using Eucerin, it works but still not fast enough.

I'm taking him to the Dr for it. I did in Fl but the only advice was stay away from every baby product on the market except dove.
How do you deal with eczema?

My ASD son has never had eczema

My NT daughter has it on her face (and used to be other places too). Dairy free helps as does gluten but she has it back at the moment and I am trying to work it out.. am thinking of trying to test phenols like tomato based products for a start... it tends to get angrier looking after such meals.. I am also thinking of just getting her tested.. as I am tired of elimination diets.

My DD with ASD never officially had eczema, but she had all sorts of odd skin rashes almost from birth, especially on her arms and legs. Tried every cream, every baby product, you name it, nothing worked. The GFCFSF diet did the trick.

You might want to consider switching to rice milk instead of soy milk and see if that helps. Our naturopathic Dr. told me that kids who have trouble digesting cow's milk protein often react badly to soy, too. I really, really didn't want to take my kids off soy (it's in SO many foods!) but I did about a month ago and both have responded really well. This article from Mothering Magazine about the risks of soy products for young children made my decision a lot easier: http://www.mothering.com/articles/growing_child/food/soy_sto ry.html

Nope not hear with us either. [QUOTE=WIMomOf2]

What are the side effects from the cream?

No possible side effects are listed on the tube I have.  It's just a small tube, about the size of a small neosporin.  I would put a small amount on the affected area twice a day.  Within a couple days, the eczema cleared up.  I would then stop using the cream until the next outbreak.  For us, it worked great.  Your pediatrician could give you more information and let you know.

My mother has year-round isssues with eczema on her hands and sometimes her face.  She went to Bath and Body Works and got their Glove Me Tender hand treatment with shea butter.  For her, it does the trick.

Good luck!

Use hydrocortisone creme 1% (over the counter).  If that doesn't clear it up, go to peditrician who will give you an rx for something stronger (usually a 2% hydrocortisone).

We typically put the creme on in the morning before he gets dressed and at night before he goes to bed.  It clears up in a few days to a week.  My son seems to get this every winter once or twice.

thanks, I see if Dr will give it out.  thanks everyone. Dr check up next week

My step-son has Eczema BAD. His mom wasnt takin care of it. she said it was just a zinc allery and he was allergic to the buttons on his pants. He moved in with us and Funny he wasnt allergic to any of the pants I bought him. Any way he was covered in scabs from behind his ears all the way to his ankles. He was MISERABLE. After we got his insurance transfered I took him to the dr. She prescribed Hydrocortizone.

I rubbed in on him head to toe 3 times a day to help kick most of hid rash. then I started maintnance.

This is what I did and still its been a year and his skin in under control.

He used Johnson and Johnson mild baby shampoo for his hair and Dove dye free bar soap. He took lukewarm - warm showers.. Never Hot as that dries out the skin. After a shower we rubbed Auqaphor.. made by eucerin on all the areas that were really bad before and all areas that felt dry. We also washed all his clothes, towels, and Blankets in All free & clear.

This is what worked for us.

Now my youngest has eczema too but not bad because I do everything I mentioned above for her as well. :)

Hi.

Our 5 year old has no problems yet but our 2 nt does. He had it when he was baby and now is back on his legs again.
