I just had dd's first kindergarten report card conference. I am happy to say that she is doing really well! She is keeping up with everything so far! The only thing that she is struggling with on the academics is rhyming so that is something we need put a little more work on.
Her biggest success, IMO, is her improvement with writing. Her OT has worked wonders. She is writing half her uppercase letters which is exactly where she needs to be! At the beginning of the year she only had "A" so that is a huge amount of growth!!!
Her teacher also really makes an effort to talk to the class about how to make a friend and how to play (initiating and leaving a friend), etc. She said there are a couple other kids who really benefit from these role playing activities too. She also always makes sure dd is engaged.
We really lucked out with this teacher. I think K is going to be a success. Then I can worry about 1st. Ugh.
Congratulations on all the big process
Congrats on the teacher as wellThat is wonderful news! She seems to be doing very well. Sounds like the
teacher is very inclusive.
Great news! Are they doing social skills groups as well? My ds has a friendship group and all the parents (except one) signed permission for their child to attend. The letter mentioned no names, just asked if their child could attend a friendship group to help model friendship skills for those kids who need to work on them. Once a week, a different friend goes with my ds and they play together under supervision of the ASD teacher. She helps ds maintain conversation and play and they work on a different skill as well.
Might be something to think about or pass on to the teacher. She might be receptive to it!
But otherwise - that is really great. You must be so proud!

Wow, Chaos....how great for you! It sounds like a great teacher, which I think is 60% of the battle already won. Good for you. Enjoy her success. And please...don't think about 1st grade yet, kay? Really....just enjoy. You deserve it.
That is great news. It's great she has such a great teacher. I agree that finding the right teacher is a big part of their success! Congrats and enjoy her wonderful year!!
