Gluten-Free Meals?

we have been doing a strict Gluten Free/Casein Free diet for about 1 month. The only change that I have noticed is that my daughter has lost 2 lbs.. She wasn't what I would call a typical "good" candidate. She doesn't self limit on food, she never has drank milk. The only casein foods she had to give up were yoghurt, cheese pizza (the only cheese she will eat..not even mac and cheese) and milk chocolate. Gluten was trickier, but her favorite food is rice. Never the less, she hates change and is doing a hunger strike. I plan on doing this diet until her birthday on the 25th and then do the ChuckE.Cheese provocative test. We shall see if behaviors increase.  I do have one thing to say. I do know people who put their children on this diet and have seen great changes, unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be the same in our case.

yes and yes ... but I don't have the time at this moment to write about it.  Briefly, if I were you I'd give it a try!  I read your other post and understand that your child doesn't eat well to begin with, but it sounds like your child has a self-limited diet.  We add very small amts of vitamins to our son's juice to get him to take them.

One of my bosses at work  had told me that sometimes gluten-free foods work wonders for kids with autism (wheat-free) because it helps to change mood-swings (they become calmer).  Has anyone heard of this or tried it?

Renee,

We noticed the same thing, a few minor improvements but we called it off when Connor stopped eating. It just wasn't worth the risk of him getting sick. Although we're not totally gfcf, we have managed to cut alot of things out of his diet. Best of Luck with it and truelly, my hat is off to you with the trip to Chuck E Cheese. you are one brave woman!

Eileen
