Change so soon? | Autism PDD

We started ds on fish oil just last Friday. For the last couple of days I have
noticed increased eye contact. He also seems happier, and more energetic
in a positive way, not running around aimlessly but more interested in
playing with me.

Can this be because of the fish oil? So soon?

For those who tried fish oil how long did it take to see results?

Thank you!I just wanted to reassure myself that I am not imagining things!

And yes, DHA is in the fish oil listed under the Omega 3s...Hmmmm, baby
formula...that is a good idea too! Ds is very finicky about food so I squeeze
the fish oil (orange flavor) into his morning milk when he is too sleepy to
protest, but in case he starts fussing about it, baby formula is another
option now.

Two complete sentences! Woo hoo! It can't be a fluke :)

Thank you so much!

Yes!

Our little girl has eye stims badly when she is off the Cod Liver Oil for just a few days...when she gets a tsp faithfully every day, she has no eye stims...

I'm not doing fish oil, but instead baby formula with DHA added to it.  Someone told me on here yesterday that DHA is what's in fish oil.  I've noticed a huge improvement in just 2 weeks of being back on it.  He didn't have it for a few months because WIC stopped paying for it for him.  Parents Choice, the wal mart brand, just started selling the soy formula with DHA and ARA in it, so I switched back...huge improvment.  Back when WIC was paying for it, we got Similac with DHA and ARA.  He was also doing ABA style speech therapy.  I attributed all the speech gain to the therapy.  When we moved at the beginning of the year, he lost some of his words, but I attributed that to the move and starting school.  It was a gradual slowing in his speech.  He said two complete sentences yesterday.  Could be a fluke...could be the DHA...I'll keep the DHA in his diet and we'll see where he goes from here.

We had the same experience with cod liver oil.  Ian's eye contact improved with a week.  I know what you mean about wondering if you're imagining it however.  My son had very dramatic initial progress with several of the supplements, especially DMG, and if there hadn't been three adults with him fairly consistently, all observing the same thing, I suspect we'd have all been questioning our objectivity :-)Cwalniuk, it's now almost a month that he is on Coromega (only 1 a day) and
I am pretty sure it helped a lot. His eye contact is very good, he is very
interested in the world around him, he brings me toys and he constantly
wants to play with me. He has also started ABA about 2 weeks ago so I
know this is another factor too but definitely the fish oil made a change. I
am really thinking now...hmmm, what if I do the diet also...
I am starting the fish oil for myself too
