Wow! This is a great link!

We got Sarah videos from thrift stores and ebay that had singalongs from beginning to end...Wee Sing & Kidsongs~She loved them! Lots of themes to them:)

songlyrics.com is where I go whenever I am confused about a song, or at least what they say in the song. Jeeze too be honest it took me until I was in high school to actually be able to desipher the words from the music in the song, to me it was all inaudible, songlyrics.com allows you to search for the song, search for the lyrics, artist and other stuff, id check that out they have pretty much any song in english on the site, you can even submit songs!

Wow that would probably have stopped me from being embarrassed in high school because I thought the song "Urgent" said "Virgin"!

Thanks for the link!

Try this one it is my favorite and one I use with my kids.  It doesn't have pop ups but it does have all the words and midi to go along with the songs.

I use various sites because I'm always looking for soundtrack songs (Shrek, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, etc).  Our son learns significantly more information - and how to respond to social questions - through songs (even made-up ones) than anything else?

For years, he would NOT answer the questions - what's your name, how old are you?  But he knew those things because he would mentio them.  So at age four, we sang to the tune of Frere Jacques "what is your name, what is your name? My name's Cole!  My name's Cole!  Wha-a-at is your name, wha-a-at is your name? My name's Cole!  My name's Cole!"

We sang it for about 45 minutes off and on.  The next morning at breakfast I said: Hey kid!  You there!  What is your name?  And he just lit up like 1000 watts and said (not sang) My name's COLE!!!!

He can read pretty well these days and still loves to sing, so we got him a karaoke machine for Christmas!  Has a built in camera that will record him singing, too.  If your kids love singing and reading, this might be a good idea for ya'll, too.  We got one for 249 with free shipping from Amazon, and its got all the bells and whistles.

Thanks for your input, everyone! I appreciate it.

I went to a dyslexia conference last weekend and attended a presentation about reading fluency. One of the presenter's ideas was to read song lyrics while singing the song. His research had found that this helped improve his students' reading fluency.

I have a student who loves music, and I would like to try this technique to help him with reading. Does anyone know of a reputable website where you can look up popular and "oldies" song lyrics? It seems like a lot of these websites have a lot of pop-ups and make me nervous to go to them.

Thanks!

Nicole
