MB12 Nasal Spray | Autism PDD

Just wondering if you have started the nasal spray and how you have found it?

Mysh

this man used the spray with his child...there are a ton of testimonies of how it (and other things) helped the children....

I actually decided to delay starting the MB12 spray because DD has been experiencing diarrhea. It's very unusual for her -- she's always had the opposite problem, practically from birth -- and it started out of the blue this weekend. Our pediatrician says this is usually the body's way of clearing out a viral infection, so we're just giving her lots of bananas, rice, applesauce and water and letting it run its course for now.

As soon as we're past this, we'll be starting the MB12 spray and I'll post on our progress.

I've heard lots of positive things about the MB12 shots, but we're trying the new MB12 nasal spray. It just arrived and I'm planning to start DD on it next week. (We're starting 2 other new supplements this week, and I want to space things out rather than hitting her with everything at once.)

Has anyone here used the nasal spray? Any thoughts on whether it's as good as/better/worse than the shots?

I'm back with an update: we finally started using the new MB12 nasal spray last week and the changes in my DD are really exciting. Her receptive and expressive speech have just soared -- we're actually having real conversations for the first time! She's able to answer questions now instead of "echoing" all the time, and she's starting to use "I" and "we" instead of speaking of herself in the third person. This has been one of her most frustrating struggles -- she just did not get the whole pronoun thing, despite lots of hard work by her speech therapist. Now it's suddenly clicking.

She's also calm and relaxed for the first time in 3 years, very social (actively playing with peers at school, and snuggling with her baby sister!) and she's so darned happy, her teachers and everyone else keep commenting on it. It's like she's a completely different child.

We went to visit Santa at the mall yesterday, and she actually sat in his lap and told him what she wants for Christmas! It brought me to tears. Visiting Santa is one of those ordinary things that most parents take for granted, but she's never been able to do it before. When we tried, it always caused a complete screaming meltdown. This year, there were no tears. Except mine.

If anyone else is interested in the MB12 nasal spray, Stan Kurtz (a parent who helped his son recover using it) has a detailed explanation on his website: http://www.childrenscornerschool.com/mb12nasalspray.htm. You'll need to get the spray from a compounding pharmacy, because it's custom-made based on your child's weight. You have to have an RX from an M.D. or D.O., and it costs about for a 2-month supply (plus for overnight FedEx refrigerated shipping). Our regular pediatrician (who's pretty open-minded about the biomedical stuff we're doing, God bless her) gave us the RX and even faxed it to the pharmacy for us.

Oh my goodness - that is so exciting!!  I am so happy for you and it gives me a little hope.  We have an appt on Thursday with our DAN Dr.

Congrats.  I got teary eyed just reading your post!
\o/ (that means "Praise the LORD!" I'm dyeing to know how things are going.  Please keep us informed. WOW!!!  PLease keep us updated.  I think I will talk to her ped. about this next time!  It's worth a try!

Can someone tell me what the docters script would say for this nasal spray?  I am having a hard time with the B 12 shots and this sounds like a great alternative.

Thanks,

Jessica.

Here is the link for the actual medical information.  It lets you know the pharmacy, amounts, etc.  You can print this out and take this to your Dr.  I am going to do that on my next appt.

Another update: I think the nasal spray may be helping with her sensory issues. Again, I have her on several supplements, so I can't be 100% sure it's the spray, but I haven't seen =any= progress in this area before now, despite the diet and supplements, and this week I'm seeing a big change. We're now using the nasal spray daily, which is the suggested dose. (We started with once every 3 days, then every other day, and gradually worked up to one spray daily.)

She's always been super-sensitive about her hands, face, and skin. Grooming has always been a struggle. We took her to the hair salon 2 times when she was a toddler, and let's just say, I can never go back there again. Just getting toweled off after bath time always caused major tantrums and tears. The GFCFSF diet ended the tantrums, but every time I toweled her dry after bath time, she would still cry and say, "No towel! No towel!"

Well, suddenly this week she couldn't care less about the towel. In fact, she's smiling and singing Christmas carols while I dry her off. She's also letting me clean her face and brush her hair in the morning before school with no protest. And (this was HUGE for us) she let me clean her ears today! With a Q-tip! Without so much as a peep! Just sat very calmly and let me clean her ears. Okay, for some parents, I'm sure Q-tips are nothing to get excited about, but it's one of those things my DD has =never= been able to tolerate.

Wow, if this keeps up, I might just go for broke and make an appointment at that hair salon. (Although I'll bet they've got our name on their "Never Again!" list)
