reaction when starting probiotics and B12 | Autism PDD

I would back off the threelac , give it a few days then start up much slower--1/2 pk daily then add in another 1/2 pack after two days, etc. See if that helps. In the meantime, the dosage of the MB12 shot looks odd. And most start out at a higher dosage but every three days....go here and ask about it:

He seems like he is going through yeast die-off.  It only lasts 3-4 days.  you can give him activated charcoal to help get rid of the toxins released by the yeast. We went to see the DAN doctor for the first time yesterday (Dr. DeJonge in Grand Rapids Michigan).  He started him on 1 ml B12 injections daily, 1 packet of Threelac twice daily, and one teaspoon flax seed oil twice daily.  He was very emotional today.  He normally is very good natured, but lots of melt downs today (screaming and crying uncontrollably at times).  He is two and a half and not verbal yet, so I have no idea what's going on with him.
Do these dosages seem okay?
Could it be yeast die off from the probiotics?
How long to see results with the B12 shots?

three lac is not a probiotic so to say. It does have some probiotics in it but it is more of a yeast killer like diflucan or nasitan. It sounds to me like yeast die off but with him starting so many different things at the same time its hard to tell. Your dan dr never should have started your child on so many things at once. I always take the low and slow approach when starting new suppliments.

I agree about taking the low & slow approach. We just started working with a naturopath (a Dr. who uses all-natural methods) and she recommended several supplements, but advised us not to start everything at once.

We've been doing the GFCF diet for about 6 weeks. This week, we switched my DD from her usual chewable children's vitamin to Super Nu Thera, and we started off at 1/4 tsp. daily. The full dose for her weight is 1 tsp, so I'm gradually increasing her dose (adding 1/4 tsp. every 3 days) until we get there. We'll add DMG later this week, then next week the methyl B12 nasal spray, and eventually ThreeLac -- but again, one at a time, gradually working up to the full dose. Even though these supplements are all natural, they can be very powerful, so I think "slow & gentle" is the way to go. Plus, if you see any side effects, you can get a better idea of what's causing them.

I've heard the MB12 can cause hyperactivity, so we'll only be doing that twice a week (every 3 days) until we see how she responds.

I agree with the other posters - not a good idea to start all at once. The MB12 shots can increase yeast. My recommendation would be to start with Threelac (this was the only thing that worked on dd yeast) and once that is established start the shots. Introduce the flaxseed oil a few days later at a 1/4 dose and work your way up.

As another poster stated activated charcoal works very well for die-off dosed 30-45 minutes after the threelac. Also, epsom salt baths or magnesium cream can help.

Good luck!

Jennifer
