Hello,
We are taking our daughter to her first DAN doctor in a few weeks. I heard he is into doing IV therapy (like DMSA). The idea makes me very nervous and I was wondering.
1. Shouldn't the diet be in place for awhile first (before chelation) for the best success. I thought I read this is in Children with Starving Brains.
2. Has anyone had success with DMSA, how many treatments did it take ect?
3. Has anyone tried EPTA (Suppositories) and if so was there success
My daughter only weighs 27 pounds and the idea of scares me. I am also barely starting the diet. Any feedback would be appreciated.
I honestly have never heard of DMSA IV, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I just haven't heard of DAN docs using it. I use DMSA suppositories on both my kids and have gotten really good pulls. I give it 3 times a week every other day. The number of treatments varies based on the heavy metal burden.
I have never used the EDTA suppositories, but I know other kids who have significant levels of lead do.
Most DAN should make sure the child does not have leaky gut when they chelate because there is the concern that the metals would go right back into the blood stream since the gut is one of the places the metals are excreted from the body.
The following links should provide you with more info about chelation...hope that helps in your research:

Thank you for the info. I am not 100% on what he uses for the IV therapy. Just that he does it once a week on many of his patients. Hopefully I will get more info soon.
