well-I got a call from the district | Autism PDD

The bottom line for kids with an IEP is PROGRESS.  Based on your child's goals, what PROGRESS can the school show he is making?  If he is not making progress, they must implement more supports in his CURRENT placement before they consider changing the placement.  Go to www.wrightslaw.com for more info or use their book, FROM EMOTIONS TO ADVOCACY.  Also, all states must provide advocacy support of some kind. Contact your state ed dept. to find out how to access it.I had complained (as in written a letter) about the school not
implementing the IEP and I just got a message from special ed at the
district office that they looked into my complaint and found it justified
and would like to meet with me.
I am jaded enough by now that I am not bushy-tailed about it.
I figure at best they want to make it all sound like a unfortunate
misunderstanding that they took care of. I already got my ds's 'new
special ed plan' and it looks like a dressed-up version of the one that was
not happening before either. I am kicking myself that I signed an IEP that
seemed pretty tough to implement and measure from the start.
At worst they might give me a speech about how my ds might not be
appropriate for the school and that we should consider a different
placement (unfortunatly there is not much nor anything better in the
district).
Either way - I have noone to go with me, so I think I will really have to
have my wits together. I am usually not nervous before these meetings
but I feel that I really need to prepare carefully so I do not get caught of
guard.
Anyone with a story - really what is the worst that can happen after you
complain about the resource room at your school ?

I have always "hinted" and tried to maintain a good relationship with the school, because I'm afraid something "bad" will happen if I complain -- but like you said, what REALLY is the worst that can happen?  I don't know.

Good luck in your meeting.

Daniel made little progress in rescource ever. Their answer was to have him work in a closet even. Shouldn't this of told them he has more than adhd going on.
