Meds | Autism PDD

After about a month living with alot of anger issues, I'm thinking about putting Reeves on meds. We've had the no sleeping problem as well. The anger has gotten better this past week. I'm so torn. I want to help him and if it takes meds to do it, ok. His ped talked about a drug rhisperdol (spelled wrong). When I looked it up, I was scared to death. Reeves has alot of anxiety and depression. I was wondering if anyone could tell me some meds that help their kids. I know nothing about the ones that are out there. In case someone doesn't know, Reeves has PDD-NOS. Any help would be wonderful. My son is 7 and has been on Risperdal since 4...it was truly a wonder drug for us. It depends on the severity and situation. You need to make sure you TRUST the doctor before you go messing with it. It is a potent anti-psychotic, but we've tried other things to no avail...he was hospitalized on them.

ETA - Payne takes Risperdal for aggression issues, Prozac for anxiety (social), Clonidine for ADHD issues (can't take any stimulants), Lamictal for seizures and mood stabilizer (bipolar)
Payne's Mom39387.2305439815My son takes Prozac for severe anxiety, It works really well for him and also helped with depression. He started it when he was 9. He also takes Risperdal for anger, and not thinking clearly, like putting hand on hot stove, and severe phobias. It also has worked well for him, he started Risperdal at age 6. I'm not sure how old your son is?
