Looking at this picture you would never know this is the same child you described months ago.  You must be so proud!

BTW, so glad to see you back on the board.  So many times over the past few months I've watched my kids playing happily in the tub and thought of you and Sharlet and wondered how you were doing with the bathing and hoping that you were making progress.  This post was so great to see.

how often do you give your daughter baths?

Oh, Allegra! What a wonderful thing to happen! Go Sharlet! I am so happy for you guys. Isis_mommy

That was Sharlets first bath (actually first wash in general) in 4.5 months.  She has a very severe water phobia.  It has taken 6 months of intensive sensory integration therapy/desensitization, patience and creativity to get her back in the bath.  We took tiny little steps to get her playing in a dish of water, and then moved the dish closer and closer to the bathroom, and then slowly made the dish bigger, and then finally got th dish in the bathroom, and then filled the bath with balls and slowly had her play with the balls from outside the bath.  Finally adding a small amount of water at a time.  As I said the process took 6 months.  She is still very fragile and the tineist thing going wrong could take us back to square 1.  She needs very controlled circumstances.
Hi everyone,

Many of you know about Sharlet's issues with bathing.  It has been 4.5 months and taken so much work and patience from everyone involved.  It has been tiny steps and needed so much creativity and trial and error but this is Sharlet today...

Her first bath in what feels like years lol

I couldn't be happier

That's like the most beautiful picture EVER, knowing what you all have been going through, first with the struggles and then the desensitization program.  I'm SOOOO happy for you!  Yea, Sharlet!!Fantastic! It looks like she is really enjoying that bath too. Hope this continues to work for Sharlet. Congratulations Allegra. Awesome job for both of you! Blow that picture up and Frame it! How Wonderful Allegra -- that's a GREAT pic and terrific testimony to what patience and teaching can do. Congratulations to both of you! That is sooo awesome! I'm soo happy for you and Sharlet.

Allegra, this is soooo awesome!  I commented before, but to know that she could get over this fear makes me so hopeful for Nick and his potty fears.

Congratulations! That is so awesome! She is asking for th bath again, so I'd better go run it
She has been asking constantly since the first one.
If I know Sharlet, I'd say it will fast become her latest obsession lolol
