What if Gluten/casseine allergies ? | Autism PDD

Wouldn't it be something if G/C allergies along with contamination of thermirisol was the cause of autism? Think about it. How many babies have gas/colic/constipation and we try different formulas. What if the developemental delays started as a result of 1 1/2 yrs on formula/milk the first year or so. What if this build up was chronic since 1st intake of formula at birth?

I know it sounds far fetched but who knows?

I ate regular foods with both kids. 1 is fine and was nursed also and was the colic baby. Daniel wasn't a colic baby. Both babies had to do baby foods no teeth until age 1. Daniel also had oral mpotor issues and still does. He has a large tongue that works oddely still at age 11. At 10 months of his age I learned my thyroid was low. My theory is maybe this thyroid thing was comeing and we just didn't know until then. Poor thyroid also messes up the matoblism. I was more ill with Daniel and slept alot and had  heavey bleeding in month 4. I was 28 when he was born. 25 When I had his sister. Daniel lacked oxyagen at birth which I raed besides me have SI issues also being his case. The shots didn't help him either. Thanks little byrd

The theory (or one of the theories) is that thimerosal could be one of the causes for leaky gut (directly and indirectly).  So kids with leaky guts may also not produce enough digestive enzymes or the correct digestive enzymes to break down gluten and casien completey.  THe partially broken down protiens from these peptides that are very similar in form to a type of natural morphine.  It passes the gut into the blood stream and can cause problems in the body - allergies/ intolerances, high pain tolerance, actually physical health problems and a sort of 'high' as if the child is in his or her own world.

Read Lisa Lewis's website on the first sticky tab of the Autism Diet board.  Very interesting.

My child was fine with all foods up untill the age of 1 and a half, then all of the baby foods that he had eaten fine before all of the sudden he wouldn't touch. I think alot of it is vaccine related. My son has sensory issues. The baby food stage 3-4 he used to eat(soft) he no longer will. The texture may bother his mouth or perhaps he does not feel it(numb feeling) Try gentle massage arounf face, mouth, lips. Gentle tooth brush or vibrating brush. Ask your OT about sensory therapy

Now that would result in an uproar wouldn't it!!!

I don't think it's far fetched to think that with some people it is a contributing factor.

The fact that our son has had such gains from being on the diet and using supplements- I support the concept wholeheartedly and am hoping for even more once we chelate our son.

I am reading a good book at the moment outlining this "good news for the Alphabet kids" by Michael Sichel

Couldn't be in Daniel's case he was a nursed baby intil 11 months old. Hated bottles even. I think his bad delivery didn't help him at all.

Dan's mom,

Did You eat regular food while nursing your son? Cross-contamination via breast milk? Then on to table food? Again, this is just a hypothesis
