It is close to 2am. He won't go to bed! He has school tomorrow. I have read to him..rocked him..took him to the bathroom. Nothing is helping! His Dad just took him outta bed, again. Ugh! HELP!!!
If you figure this out let me know.........Poor Curtis.....he has been up every nite until 1 or 2 am..........Curtis has always been really good about going to bed around 9 ...........but he suddenly gotten into this...........he starts school next week........UGH...............it is going to be rough...........Good luck to you.......oh by the way Curtis is almost 10 yrs old..........He is PDD-NOS...........A-typical autism........very mild..........but we still have some major issues at times.........God bless. ..........and I hope AJ sleeps for you soon..........
I saw some stuff about light therapy resetting the body clock on "Beyond Tomorrow". They use it for travellers and insomnia. They have glasses with diodes on. Do you think we could get our kids to wear something like that.
When Tj is realy bad about going to sleep we take him for a ride. Once Tj started school he is exhausted and takes his nap and goes to sleep very easily. It is really nice now as far as getting him to sleep. Now if he would just stay asleep all night that would be so nice.
Good luck the first few weeks of school are rough for everyone. It is amazing how tired he is when he comes in.

HUGS!!!
Oh my gosh been there and done that! so sorry you guys are going through this! We still have moments, but its much better than our all night dance party that we use to have that would start at say 3 am until oh about 6 or 7 am! I thought I was going to really crack soon, like I never left that infant not sleeping stage ever!!! it lasted for a long long time and then boom at like 3 1/2 he began to get much better...I can only offer a shoulder to rest your weary head! Lord know mine was oh so tired not too long ago! ugh!
Praying it gets easier, some doctor's recommend medication, I declined and it got better on its own, but some folks have great luck w/ it.
take care, and wishing you all a restful night...(crossing fingers and toes!)
hugs,
Ali
Just want to show support and say that I hope your little one goes to sleep for you well tonight. Take care,
Karrie
does he take anything for bed?Hi All!
Thank you for your support! I don't give him any type of drugs as I am TRYING to get through this without them. I believe it has to do with changing his schedule COMPLETELY around. He didn't get a nap in today as we had a parent-teacher conference. He will probably go to bed around 9-9:30 tonight...I HOPE! However, if he goes to bed later than that...it is ok TONIGHT as he doesn't have school tomorrow. I still hafta keep him somewhat on this same schedule so his body will adjust. Thanks, AGAIN, for your loving support!
You may want to do a google search on ASD and sleep stratigies. Some things we tried Melatonin, epsom salt bath before bed, foam wedges and/or weighted blanket and/or sleeping bag (if he has sensory issues), a 'white' noise of some kind, Lavendar scent, (of course) a predictible routine, social story and explanation of time frame for bedtime. I am sure that there are many, many more. I alsoread that children who have gastric problems (many ASD kids do), may also have sleep issues. Good Luck, it is something we still struggle with, but now when my DS wakes up crying in the night, 99% of the time, he is coming down with something, usually an ear infection. Oh yeah, My DS is 4 and he gave up naps completly about the time he started having problems sleeping at night (aprox age 2). Screeech_2001 I just wondered if you have tried a weighted blanket or even giving him some pressure as I have to lay on my son since he likes pressure before he goes to sleep. Or try putting stuffed animals (if he has any) on top of him while he is laying in the bed as well as putting a heavy comforter on top of him. Also try this: If you have a couch where the cushions come off..take one and put it on the floor. Have him lay flat on top of it and ask him what kind of meat in this sandwich he would like to pretend to be.. and then add topping such as lettuce(I use a green blanket), and then take your hand and pretend to be putting say mustard or ketchup on top and then put another cushion on top of all of that...just make sure that his head is out of the cushions so he can breath. I got this from one of my lists and it is making him part of a pretend sandwich. Hope this helps, Kelly
