I would open the capsules (2) into med cup and add a squirt of syrup & mixed well with a toothpick...draw it up in a med syringe and gave it to her orally:)
* I would have to sneak up behind her while she was watching tv or on computer and reach around and squirt it in her mouth.
Thanks. Shelly. I just tried pizza! He ate it. I still used real mozzarella but at least he tolerated the dough.
I will check out web sites for enzymes. He does not take pills. and powder mixed in juice he tastes. I wonder if it comes in liquid forms?
Look into enzymes, I get mine from www.houstonni.com we are doing a modified gfcf diet along with enzyme suppliments and are seeing some good results. Also look into pro biotics we are going to start on pro bio gold from www.kirkmanlabs.com We did the GFCF diet for one year and also added enzymes about 6 months into it for special nights like birthdays and holidays..she never regressed with glutein but would get zoney with milk products? She stills does sometimes now if she gets too much of it:(I personally think the more you can remove in order to get the leaky gut to heal, the better it is for the child. So yes, I believe a modified GFCF could help. Some kids may not respond on the modified diet, only if you talk all gluten and casien out of the diet. A good replacement for butter is Flieshmann's unsalted butter (comes in sticks). That is gfcf. Don't get the salted butter because it does contain some dairy.
A possibel replacement for american cheese is Tofutti's american cheese slices. Doesn't taste like american cheese, but it melts like it and has its own taste.
Hi, My boy is 6 1/2 y.o. PDD-NOS,verbal apraxia and hyperlexia. In 1st grade assisted with typical math, reading, gym, art. Academically good. Speech still not where we hoped he'd be. Always a pleasant kid with some behavioral issues esp. hitting sister. Since july 2007,tantrums worse. Screaming, kicking things, hitting things no matter what reason and unable to reason with. After meeting with teachers to devize strategies to do together,I was very disheartened. Then TSS worker wrote in communication book"Did he sleep well last night?" Then it clicked, I realised he is having mood swings and remembered the GFCF diet. I attempted it 3 years ago but no success. He was limited to foods to begin with and would not touch a thing. So,last friday(6days ago) I went to Local grocery to get whatever I could find. He basically a carb eater because won't eat fork food. I bought Rice bread, bagels and several kinds cookies and cereal bars and vanilla rice milk. I have not stopped american cheese or butter yet since He has few options to eat as it is. We have noticed a change in 24hours! Being cautiosly optomistic,I kept watching. 2nd day, after nap from working nights,my husband said"This diet is working!" No sceams,no hitting. Playing with sister!!! ^ days now with few outbursts and easily redirected. I am so happy. Can't wait to ask more questions! Thanks. I think margerine may taste ok to him.Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner buttercup. We are currently using the afp-peptazide from houstonni. As soon as they get more of the trienza one we will be trying that one instead of the afp-peptazide.
The bulk powder enzymes are nice for at home but we travel alot and at school it is so much easier for us to give Jayden the chewable.
It is cheaper to get the capsules but Riley doesn't swallow them yet. I hide the capsules in low GI jam or gfcf chocolate and use at home. These are from Kirkmans
I also get chewables from Houstons and use these on the run and at home cos I felt so sorry for the poor kid having all these gross ones to swallow on our 'drug chart' that I give him nice tasting ones when I can!
I too am waiting for stocks of the trienza to come back in as I use no-fenol too. They don't look much cheaper though but it would be nice to have one less on the list...
We use these enzymes from Kirkman's:
http://www.kirkmanlabs.com/products/enzymes/enzym_dppiv/Enzy m_Complete_w_DPP_IV_C_60_234.html
We use chewable enzymes from Houstons plus no-fenols
We use them from Kirkmans too - and hide in things.
We hope in a few years to just use enzymes and not be as strict at the diet as we are now.
Thanks,
I compared prices and Houstonni's bulk powder enzymes is equivalent to 200 caps at .00 vs Kirkman at 60.00 for 200 caps. I wonder if Houstonnis's is comparable? Just an FYI on price. I am still awaiting Video cd's from GFCF site. Has anyone watched it re- the diet?
Jaysdad, I'm just wondering which enzymes you use from Houston? I was looking at getting Ruby some from Kirkmann, but I'm not sure which ones to get, same with the probiotics.
Thanks!
