The woman who did my sons eval told me that he will be child #64(currently enrolled) with classification of Autism Spectrum Disorder to enter the district.
Wow.
Yea, in my district they avoid that label if they can...the put my son as OHI once he turned 6 b/c we couldn't keep the dd label.I went to our district's web site to see if they had any special education figures. They didn't. Now I'm curious and I think I'm going to ask what the numbers are for kids with ASD.
Our district starts at 3K. To get to 60 kids, that would mean an average of about 4 kids affected per grade. Last year my youngest was one of 4 kids on the spectrum in his classroom.
