Sherry unfortunately I don't have a digital camera to take a picture of the blanket but here is a pic of one from the catalog that hopefully will give your friend a visual.  PM me to remind me and I will tell you more about the blanket and look for a better pic for you to go with the directions.... Sorry my teen is waiting out in the car with my 2 younger ones waiting for us to leave - I think that means I have to go! LOL

could you pm me the pic and tell  me more about the blanket. thats ok i now how it istoo be busy with the kids. dakota and me just spent an hour at the park. thanks sherry can someone explain what they actually do? and where to buy?Hi,

These blankets are supposed to provide deep pressure for kids, kids on the spectrum often find this type of sensation comforting. The blankets are supposed to help them feel secure. Before buying one you can do some things with your child that can give you an idea whether or not he would enjoy it. Examples are rolling him tight in a blanket (make a game out of it, say your making him a hot dog, spread pretend condiments on him at the end, etc). You could also see how he responds to having a heavy ball rolled on his body. Kids that like this often seek the sensations out (ex.-by making you sit on him, etc.) You can order the blankets on line from sensory /OT catalogs (therapy shoppe is good), or if you are much more crafty than me you can probably make one by filling a blanket with sand, rice, etc.

Hi Rose Long time no see on here! Weighted blankets provide deep pressure and help with calming... they also work for sleep by making the child feel secure... it helps kids who have problems with their proprioception (knowing where their body is in space)
