Daniel 11 yrs and about 70 lbs. We moves about so much he runs it all off. Strattera didn't help daniel much. I know a asperger's boy who does this med. at 830 pm. Have you tryed that. Daniel loves eating. How about sleep aid for night time so he's not sleeping in the day time. I know some stuff about nutrition I can help some. what things will he eat. I now a NV asd kid who his mom does the V8Fusion drinks for her son. I just noticed that you mentioned MIND Institute.  Are you in California?  If so, then you really need to discuss this issue with your Regional Center coordinator.  Your son needs a behaviorist to work with him on his food issues.  You also need to consult with an OT as to the possibility that his hesitance to eat is not a sensory issue.  Regional Center can be extremely helpful with this kind of thing.  Keeping my fingers crossed that you live in California!

Good luck to you!

WIMomOf239378.6678356482Can you tell me the severity of his autism?  That goes a long way in terms of what techniques you should try.  Also, is your pediatrician in the loop on this? He is very small, and I would be concerned for his overall health at this size.  To give you some frame of reference, my son just turned 13, and is by no means big for his age.  He is 63 inches and weighs 101 pounds, so you can see why my jaw dropped when I saw your son's size.  I have heard of eating clinics that work on just this issue, but I don't know where to direct you with this.  My son is part of a social skills group that goes out to dinner twice a month, and the psychologist works specifically with getting them to expand their food choices, and they are rewarded with "hero" tickets that increase their odds in a raffle conducted at the end of the session.  But it sounds like your concerns are deeper.  He isn't eating enough, and he is nearly a teenager.

Yes - I was going to say the same thing.  I hope your pediatrician is making some suggestions.  My 12 year old son is skinny, and he is less then 5' tall and weighs 100#.

I don't' have any suggestions, but it is very concerning that he is so small.
