They have a GREAT track record for getting NYC kids into public schools. This will cost you money up front, but you will most likely get most of it back (although not the 00). are you in Queens? It sounds like it by the terms you use. If so I might be able to give you some advice, or an advocate to talk to.I hear this is real hard to get to happen.
I am in the process of opening my son's IEP up again due to his behavioral issues at this public school. He is in kindergarten and they are going to re-evaluate him. DOE believes he is too smart for District 75 (severely disabled) and I agree with them - my problem is this - I want to place him in private school and I want DOE to pay for it - they need to suggest a suitable school - but I want certain demands - my son does not have a one on one para - but he needs a 12 month program - ABA - and a group setting of at least 8 children.... with more para's i the room.... he is in a 12:1:1 now.... which is a bit too much for him to handle - needs structured one on one help - and ABA - If they DOE does not have such a program can I attempt to get a nickerson letter - do you think I should get a lawyer just for the initial meeting of trying to resolve this problem...the school says DOE does not give out nickerson letters - any suggestions on what I should do.... my next step is to look at a school they will suggest to me - and I know I won't be happy..... thank you for any advice
