Going in for tubes tomorrow | Autism PDD

Share

Best of luck, Jayden had this done about a year ago. He didn't have a speech spurt but has been steadily learning/speaking new words. It has prevented him from having any more ear infections though which has made it all worth it.

Just a word of advise though make sure the dr's know she is on the spectrum and her language abilities. My son's ENT that did the surgery didn't bother to tell the nurses to they thought Jayden was in so much pain they pumped him full of morphine.

Good luck!!

My younger son got tubes at 11 months after 8 ear infections... within 2 weeks he had 8 words!!  It made a HUGE difference FAST for him!!

We had a T&A removal and tubes put in at age 4.  I didn't see any differences in his autistic characteristics, but following the procedures his sleep became much less restless and bedwetting decreased dramatically.

Made a huge difference in my ds!!! Good luck!Sending mass positive vibes!!!!  Hope it helps!!  Sounds like it's been successful for quite a few kids here!hmmm... I was not awair they still did the whole tube thing, I thought that went out a while ago in replacement of (?).

Anyways, sounds like kids and ear infections are very common, when I was little I had a TON, however as I got older that number dropped to the point where I can go a year or 2 without, I wonder why that is????

Of course, in my days tubes were avalible, and my parents did think of gettin um, was not sure it was worth the risk tho at the time, my friends have had in the past success with them.

Good luck, hope all goes well!!!O.K.,  We'll see if the dev. ped. was right...going in for ear tubes and adenoid removal tomorrow.  The doc thinks that this could be her key to speech delay.  DD has had 10+ ear infections so far, and we're thinking that hearing could be impaired.  Please, please, please let this be it!!!!!  I'm just not sure how fast we'll see results, as she has spent the whole past year possibly impaired.  Keep you updated!!!  Wish us luck!!!That's wonderful!

Just a note to hoping it went well today:)

The procedure is super fast but the anesthesia can take quiet awhile to wear off...Let us know how she did:)

Well, it went went better than I expected!  They got her in quickly, and the procedure was about a half an hour.  She FREAKED when she was coming to, but drank her bottle down fast, and they let us go home.  She still seems a little groggy tonight, but I am excited to see if she starts attempting more words!  The doctor said that her ears were full of trapped fluid, and that her adenoids were big!  That means that they were also pressing on her eustacian tubes, trapping fluid in them as well.  I'll let you know if I see any results!  If anything, we got all of that trapped fluid out for good!!  Thanks for everything!!!My daughter just had the tonsils and adenoids out as well as tubes put in last Wednesday.  She did really well but had to stay in the hospital because she is 23 months old.  It has been less than a week but has made a huge difference in her sleeping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  She also has a speech delay and we have noticed she is attempting to say more words, picked up three new body parts she is able to identify, and seems to be able to concentrate better.  If they are taking her adnoids out I am willing to bet she had a form of sleep apnea which can cause so many problems! sarao39377.7930555556ds just did a ct scan and found out he has enlarged adenoids and swollen sinus tissue.  I don't know what to do about it, I don't even know what the enlarged adenoid means at this point as I have not researched it much yet.  I'll be thinking of you tomorrow, I'm sure things will go well and I hope it helps.  Keep us updated.Glad to hear that she handled it ok. Great, keep us posted! My brother and best friend had tubes in the 80's. I believe it worked on my older brother. His ears were always full before the tubes.
I don't remember my bro having any problems with the tubes. I hope it worked like with my big bro.
No big deal Daniel had this also. The tonsills out was the worse thing for him. Learn about ear candals this can remove all the junk in the ears. It pulls the stuff out. We use this when needed. The reason it happens less as we age is cause our natural tubes filter on their won easier. The tubes grow straigther is why. My cousin is a dr and he told me this. He has 27 dr. degrees.
