WI State Budget and Graduation and Stuff

Sorry for the really vague title... So here's the deal, this past week has been super stressful. The WI state budget has been at an impasse for more than four months, and it's been effecting my life way more than you think it should.

1. There was a clause in the budget that would require insurance companies to fund services in WI. This obviously has a HUGE impact on the families I work with, as well as my job... If it were to pass, it would have guaranteed me a job after graduation.
(I'm in the process of applying for a senior therapist position even though I don't graduate until next December. I just found out this week that there is another therapist who is applying right now, who will be graduating at the same time as me...this stresses me out because I know that our company REALLY isn't hiring.)

2. Because of the budget stuff, they were talking about shutting down University of Wisconsin schools...which obviously would have effected me with not having graduated yet.

However, they passed the budget (either yesterday or today.) But not the autism insurance mandate. :( Which stinks, but at least there is still a bill that will hopefully do the same thing as the mandate that was in the budget.

But, I'm still left with the problem of what to do upon graduation. I honestly can't see myself teaching, I love the one on one/small group work with the kids... Any suggestions?
start off being a 1:1 maybe ? I'm applying to work as a 1:1 aid when I'm home from school in January..orrrr find a school with a 1:3 student teacher ratio...I know you said you didn't want to teach.. but it's teaching/special ed rolled into one? also you can always work at a special ed related camp.. we have a 3:1 ratio plus 1:1 aids so i had 9 campers and 6 adults..or work in therapy!! good luck, sorry i didn't have more helpful info Well, I'll have my special ed degree and my teaching license when I graduate. But the problem is, I don't know if I want to be in a school setting. I love doing the 1:1 in-home therapy...but I know that I can't keep being a line therapist, it's not fair to myself to keep such a low-paying job when I know how good I am and I know I deserve better.

There's actually a great camp run by Easter Seals in WI where I've been offered a position for a few years in a row, but I just cant leave my kids I work with.

I'm really wondering what kinds of opportunities there are in other states....
