This is so huge for me. I commented about this a couple of times, but a few years ago we saw a neuro that works in the same clinic as our regular neuro. They all work hand in hand and she was the one working with Mason at the time we were going through a med change. We were still very early in the stages of learning about everything going on with Mason. I asked her what she thought about Mason's future. I was referring more to the seizure aspect and I was just wondering if he might ever have a chance at being seizure and med free or did she think meds were always going to be a part of this, etc. She blurts out that if Mason can ever count change he would be lucky. She's definitely not known for her bedside manner and I've learned to word my questions very carefully when seeing her!
Yesterday I pick Mason up from school and his teacher was telling me about Mason counting pennies and nickels...she said, "It's so great, he's really getting it!" There was a worksheet in there about money, but because we are having a really hard time getting him to try homework, I thought I'm just going to kind of "play" with the money. So I brought out a few pennies and nickels. I told him to tell me how many coins there were and he just counted the coins. I then asked him how many pennies, and he counted the pennies. I then asked him how much the nickels are worth and he counted it out by 5's!! So I took 3 pennies and a nickel and asked him how much money I had. He just counted the coins but when I said you have 4 coins how much is that worth he counted 8 cents! He is understanding the word "worth" and able to count it out!
I am just sooooo unbelievabley thrilled by this!!!! I can't even tell you! And I think I'm going to make a little video of him doing this and send it to the neuro for Christmas, lol!!
Just had to share!
That is so cool!
