I am coming to the conclusion that my son is sens seeking with anything that has reverberation. Cabinet doors, other doors (slam bang crash), banging balls into a table or rolling them down the banister. Also I am a church organist. Sometimes Zachary will like to come to church with me to set up the hymn numbers, and enjoys clapping and stomping and banging on the radiators because of the echo. Is anyone else familiar with this? Any ideas about "productive" toys that tie into this need to experience reverberation? Thanks. How about Boomwhackers. My kids used them in preschool and loved them. Why didn't I think of those? I teach music and we have a set of them at school!Man, where is my brain? On something else...as most of us are used to
My ds loves to stomp on storm drains- we have the big ones in Orlando....and he also likes to make sounds in places that do echo..certain hallways etc... I dont know why, maybe a auditory/sensory thing?? I also wonder if he has auditory processing disorder. Theraputic lsitening helps him, but the benefits are short lived. |
